“I'm not all that strong honestly.” I said. “My magic might be useful, but unless I'm defending for someone or with Riley. I can't use my magic for combat otherwise. If a fight breaks out, then I'm the first to suggest to run.” I let a burden sigh as I admit my cowardice. I'm not trying to be modest or anything like that. I hate fighting, and I hate hurting people. I've done more harm to the world compared to most people. So, what right do I have to judge others? What right do I have to defend myself? From my own point of view, I have none of those. I should be on the death roll and be hanged, If not for a few people in my life; I would have already. “Ah, Riley is the Saint wizard and this used to be where her former guild located, Griffin's wing. Thanks to uncontrollable circumstance, she was gone for the past three years until recently.” Now she's all depress and hating life because she blames herself for her guild to be gone. The people within the town hate her guts and the outbreak are making life tough. I reach into my pocket and pull out a pocket of Riley. “If you guys want, I can have you guys meet her,” I said shrugging. After they get a look upon the picture, I withdraw it back into my pocket. Deon's thoughts are still a bit off, but that's OK. I don't have any room to complain or judge him. I was like him, or rather worse. “Let's keep the subject off the virus for now. I've been dealing with this virus and the raiders. So, it's a bit stressful for me. How about you guys tell me about yourselves? Do you have any friends, family, or an ambition?”

Deion seemed to backtrack on the finality of his solution to the raiders, but Artie was still nervous. He sounded rational, and reasonable. So, was he just messing around, earlier? Or was he just lying now? Either way, he felt wary around the teen. They were the same age, but on entirely different levels.
But Deion was probably right about the group sticking out. His eyes glanced around the room again. Deion did, and for obvious reasons, and the same went for Artichoke. He would stick out even without the name. Fiore was as foreign to him as he was to Fiore. Aether was a different thing entirely- Artie wasn't sure if he would have even found him without the tree's help.
After a second, he felt Deion's gaze on him. Looking to see the mage sitting on the floor and smiling, Artie felt a pang in his chest. Not one of affection- no, the tranquil look only served to make him more unsettled.
He was almost glad when Aether started talking, eyes immediately zipping to the eldest of the three. Deion had raised another good point- Artie hadn't thought about how Aether's time magic would workin a fight. He'd been caught up in how useful it was. But even if it couldn't win him any battles, well- Artie wouldn't have minded having a power like that.
-which brought him to Aether's next question. Ambition, right! The topic did a somersault straight to the forefront of his mind; the forest, where his family and friends and ambition all were. It was hexed with- well, it was hexed with something, but he didn't think time magic would be the key. Artie stood up straight from his previous perch half-backed against the fridge, looking at both Aether and Deion, the latter of whom he decided it was better not to ignore. He might have been saying weird things earlier, but giving him another chance couldn't hurt, right?
"There's a forest back in Bosco that had a spell put on it. A huge spell." He opened his arms comically wide to illustrate. "No one over in Bosco knows what it is, so I thought that some of the big guilds here could help me find out what type of magic it was!"
His eyes were agleam. Artichoke made his way across the room in long strides and yanked open the zipper of his pack. He always carried the flier for Fairy Tail with him, because despite the fact that he liked to think he had a good memory, he doubted he could catch the essence of it with just his words.
Turning back to the two others, Artie held out the flier in one hand. "Someone told me a guild called Fairy Tail practically churns out great wizards. I figured there would be a good first step."

Deion watched Aether. He began to start caring less about what this man was saying as he went on. It was, how would someone word this delicately if they were to speak up? Oh right, probably shut up? No that's not nice enough, he thought, running his bandaged hand through his hair. He liked it down on the ground, the wall was cool against his back and hey, Deion didn't have to stand up on his feet anymore. Besides its not like they were going anywhere soon it seemed. Deion had little intention do so, he desired to learn more about the afflictions that this land has come to bare.
He tilted his head with what could only be described as a face that was truly, truly bored. Terribly so, as Deion slid his hands around his knees as he brought them close to his chest, laying his head on them. He listened to Artie, somewhat distracted by something he would keep to himself for now as he rubbed his eyes and put on a slight smile, trying to be less rude to Artie. I wonder why he's in Onibas then, Fairy Tail is all the way in the North, he thought as he looked at the flier for the guild Artie held. Man, he looks so happy. I guess Marika gets a recruit after all. I'll get him up there so he can see the guild for itself, he thought as he yawned and waved his hand.
"Hey Artie, I met someone from Fairy Tail in Harujion. I doubt she's still there, she's looking to recruit for the guild after all. But she told me to direct any mages to Magnolia in the North, you can find Fairy Tail there. I'm actually going to check it out myself after I leave the south.", he said as his hand kept waving back and forth in the air, like a dolphin breaching the water. "We could travel there together if you'd like, its not like I bite or anything after all.", he said before his eyes narrowed and he smiled. "Not unless you bite first.", he added quickly afterwards.

His hand clenched tight around the flier at Deion's answer. " Really?" He said, excited voice carrying throughout the room. A flurry of thoughts was racing through his mind, now, fighting for space in his head as they chattered excitedly. I can unhex the forest. I can see them all again. The teen could feel the will o' wisps, invisible to this point and still near-impossible to see, buzzing around his ears. Artichoke was only expecting a nudge in the guild's direction from the two he'd met on the streets, maybe the name of someone who knew someone who was in Fairy Tail once; After all, it was all he had gotten so far. From Bosco all the way here, it seemed like his trip to Fairy Tail had consisted of nothing but following breadcrumbs, one after another, that stopped and started seemingly at random and sometimes took him around in circles, or back to where he'd started. Now he felt like he'd found the whole loaf. Attached to a car. That flew. He could head straight there. Glee overtook him, only to be slightly dampened as he remembered who his travelling companion would be. He felt guilty, looking at Deion's bored expression, to judge him so harshly- but hesitance was gnawing at him all the same. Deion had never threatened him, but what if they came across raiders? Was he going to kill them? Artie wasn't sure he could stop him if he did. He bit the inside of his cheek and thought, for a moment, a contemplative pause continuing between them. "We could travel there together if you'd like, its not like I bite or anything after all. Not unless you bite first."A joke…? Artichoke blinked. The teen wasn't sure how to take it, but he let the giddiness spreading from his chest sway him to guessing that it was a good thing. It felt weird, speaking to someone sitting on the floor, so he propped down, sitting so he was leaning up against the counter opposite the other young mage. Now Aether was the only one standing, but Artichoke didn't know how comfortable it was to try to sit in armor. " Two is better than one." He said, small but hesitant smile breaking off across his face. " Especially with the raiders around." Then he reached back, putting the flier back behind him and pressing his lips together so his face took on a more serious expression. " But we're not going to kill any of them, right? Not without being provoked." It wasn't something he could compromise on, and it was his last compunction standing in the way of the trip. He hoped to all heavens that Deion would say 'yes', for the sake of his goal.

He glanced towards Artie, trying to meet his eyes. "Sure, better to travel in a group during times like these.", he said, relaxing his body and lifting his head up. Though it still looked like he might be bored, Deion certainly didn't feel bored. After all, it wasn't every day you had a chance to travel with someone else. I don't see any harm in it, I'm interested in checking out Fairy Tail myself. Besides it'll kill some time and I can get to know Artie, he thought, rubbing his hands along his shins. Aether had been particularly quiet, he assumed the man had little to say about Fairy Tail and had no curiosity towards the spell that Artie had brought up, though Deion would pose little question about such as it was hardly his business.
He waved his left hand to Artie. "I swear, when and if we head north that there will be no killing. Unless of course there's no other option.", he stated. "I have barely any intention of fighting something unless it fight me or I have to fight it.", he added quickly to try and make it obvious he had little interest in killing beyond making jokes and causing people to feel uneasy about the situation. "But I don't intend to go leave the south. I intend to stay here until this passes. I'm curious about this disease and I want to understand what it does to the body.", he said.
It opens up many possibilities on what to do. The disease, from what I've heard has different stages. We don't know if its airborne but I'm going to find out. Perhaps contracting the disease itself might be the best method to gather information, he thought, deep in thought as he yawned again. But then again, contracting it on my body would afflict me with any negative effects. Perhaps I could find a suitable body to contract the disease so it can be studied, he thought.

Honestly, I have no interest in this fairy tail business, and I've had only bad encounters with them. Though, that was in my past life, and I was at fault, not them. So in this entire conversation regarding Fairytail, I don't really have anything to say. The barrier on Arti brought up does make me curious, and I would love to help out with it, but there is an issue. Arti is already aware of my magic as I showed and explain it to him. However, Arti hasn't asked me anything regarding it. By placing those facts together, I can assume Arti does not want my help or believe I be no use.
So, I simply stay quiet and drink my coffee as they talk. Additionally, I'm beginning to feel uncomfortable around them in general. It has nothing to do with them per say, but I still have anxiety problems of my own. I might be a lot more stable compare before, but that doesn't take away my anxiety. So, I'm going to stay quiet and keep my distance from them. I let my thoughts drift off for a bit, and I realize that I was supposed to be doing something right now. I take a peek outside the window to see anyone is around.
I must stay vigilant for any danger around us. This might look like I'm paranoid to some, but in this town, you must stay aware of your surroundings because nowhere is exactly safe. When someone is about to die, they don't care how strong someone or how many there are, they will simply attack. They have nothing to live for and only seek death. Not only to themselves but make everyone around them to do. I keep looking out the window with my hand on the handle of my sword at my hip.

Artichoke's face lit up like the Eiffel tower. "Great."
But of course, they still had things to do in Onibas, and Deion said as much. Artichoke felt some of his energy die down, right there, and he bit down on his. Calm down, you've been waiting for to get this spell lifted for ages, you can hold off on Fairy Tail bit longer. The promise of helping with the disease was the only thing really stopping him from wanting to rush over to Fairy Tail, and even with that grounding him, Artichoke felt like he had a dozen wasps buzzing around inside him. His expression was a lot lighter when he replied to Deion, now.
"Then it's a deal. I hope you're flexible on sleeping areas." It was only half a joke. Artichoke was used to boarding in some rough places, including caves, benches, and the more-than-occasional tree; and though he didn't think that he and Deion would be coming across many situations where they would have absolutely nowhere to sleep, Artichoke didn't have a sleeping bag, and if it came between a nice spot on the ground and staying up, he would choose the ground.
The sound of Aether's armour shifting as he clutched the hilt of his sword drew Artichoke's attention back to the mage. He hadn't forgotten about his presence- just thought he'd add into the conversation when he felt the need. Come to think of it, the elder mage never had given an answer to his own question, did he? And he seemed pretty detached from the situation in general, having drifted away from the conversation to watch out the window.
Well, it's only fair that he get to answer his own question. Artichoke spoke up, hoping to draw his attention. "What about you, Aether? I don't think we ever got around to talking about your friends and family." He turned to face him, eyes turning to the sword the mage gripped protectively. "Or is it just you and, er..." The name of the Saint Mage had flown out of his head, along with a few other minor details, in his shock at suddenly having a travel partner to take him all the way to the guild, and it took him scrunching up his face to remember what it was. "…Riley?" He said, after a short pause.

The subject of debate seemed to change, shifting from Artie's ambition about finding Fairy Tail and receiving assistance with that spell he mentioned. Deion already made his statement that he would travel north and help Artie get there with safe passage. What Artie did afterwards would be up to him. Well, he doesn't seem the sort to get himself killed. At least I hope so, it would be quite a shame if that's what happened, he thought, watching Aether move. He watched him look out the window, Deion assumed he was checking to see if someone was watching them. It was a plausible idea that someone had witnessed the magic or would check this place for supplies. Deion intended to be ready for that, should he need to defend himself.
"Oh, I can be quite flexible.", he said, before narrowing his eyes and providing a stupid grin. "I can always show you exactly how flexible I can be.", he stated to Artie. "Though, I don't think I'll sleep on a tree. Roots can be painful for the back.", he added, laughing about it. He shook his hand, making a waving motion. "I'll be fine, don't worry.", he added.
He glanced to Aether once more as Artie spoke to him. True enough, but it's not like you've received much from me either, Deion thought with a gleeful smile. He was glad it didn't feel like they were trying to interrogate him for information. After all, such a concept raised the sensation of having a tooth pulled or something equally as painful. Not that Deion would say that's how interrogation go, but he simply went by what he thought. Then it occurred to him exactly what Artie asked. I can't believe he asked if they're together, that's certainly none of our business. But I'm sure its some juicy gossip of sorts, he pondered with a sly grin with his eyes closed. "Yes, I'd very much like to hear about that. You and your...", he paused, opening his eyes and looking directly at Aether, hoping to make eye contact.
"...Lady friend."

Indignation --- Auvic words: 490 ❥ NOTHING GOOD SEEMED like it would come from this strolls. So far, out of the several had taken, all but one had been uneventful. And the one that had consisted of him running from rioters until they lost his trail. A heavy sigh, clearly burdened by something. Nothing that was beyond his own control, nor something with any real significance. It was self inflicted, a failure to meet his own expectations. Whenever he spoke with the locals, all he heard was tales of plight. Of the struggles to make ends, to remain functional while the city was not. Yet whenever he went out to help, all he saw was the ghosts of what was. No body was to be seen. Hiding may protect some from the raiders, but it protected all from help. Listless, frantic, he was getting to his wits end. Eventually he'd have to give up, and move on, like always. Kowan was clear on that fact. He was allowed to roam when no one was active. If people were out, and infection was a chance, he couldn't even go out to help someone in front of him. He accepted this, not wanting to risk the disease himself, but also knew if he wanted to truly matter, he'd have to go out then.
Turning the corner. he paced his way down another street. Deserted, save for the company for a few trees. Shaking his head, he starred up for a moment. The city was in shambles. It would take years to recover from this, all assuming order was restored promptly upon prevention of the outbreak. And even that assumed it could be stopped. No one knew where this might lead; to a complete quarantine of the city even? Nothing was truly impossible in this case. 'People are around. Listen carefully. Any hostile signs and we immediately leave. No questions.' Kowan wasn't mincing words lately. Nikolai didn't blame him. He listened carefully, scanning for the presence he had apparently missed.
Nothing on the street. That he could be certain over. He was the only person currently brave enough to roam. So it had to be within the buildings. It wasn't too hard to scan them, with the sorry state most were in now. Looking through the windows, he felt a pull at his heart. Remains of ruined rooms, lives of innocent families shattered. Left empty and bear as the occupants fled for their lives, assuming all even got them. Without a single soul in sight, he couldn't place their location. He could see why Kowan sensed it; he heard faint voices, bursting through the silence of the street. Yet he couldn't place their origins. Likely released from the cracks of a former home. He stood before slightly beyond a window now, seemingly having missed that house in his scan. He was going to figure out who was around, and help all he could. So help him.

As I keep a look out for danger, the two teens turned their attention to me. They expect me to answer my question, and they're curious about me and Riley? Well, it's not like I see a problem with either question. In fact, they might find what I have to say be a little too straightforward and honest. “Well, I guess it's fair for me to answer those questions, ” I said as I shift myself to face them. “I've actually come from a large noble family. I have three other siblings, but I haven't seen any of them in a very long time, and I have one daughter. Every single member of my family has had some sort of hand in Fiore or in the world. One of my brothers had made a guild of going into space and succeeded, though, they disbanded afterwards. My younger sister was the creator and former headmaster of the previous guild Griffin Wing. Another brother of mine created the guild Lions Heart and the guild master. My daughter is actually my adopted daughter, and she's a guild master herself. For reasons, I can't say which guild presently, but she returned recently.” I hear some footsteps in the distance, but they're too far at this point to say exactly where. “For me, I guess you can say my current goal is to become a member of the magical council. So, I can contribute to making the world a better place and stop injustice.” The footsteps are getting closer, and they feel very heavy. “I'm sure you two are curious about me and Riley. The truth is we're just good friends and have gone through a lot recently. I guess you can because that, I would like to become more than that, but she has no interest in that due to her past.” I let out a small shrug. “As you young kids call it, I'm friend zoned.” I let out a small laugh. Honestly, it's adequate enough being near her. “As mention before, we're providing assistance to the city as the best that we can.” I look outside my window and see another young teen walking by. He appears to me as a healthy person. On top of a ruin building, I see a shadow moving. What grabs my attention is the shadow appears human and with a weapon. I rush to the hallway and outside the building without saying a word to the two others. I've been in this town to trust my eyes and gut. Exactly what I thought was going to happen, happen. A man who looks sickly pale on top of the building has a crossbow. He aims the crossbow and prepares to shoot at the roaming young teen. My right eye glows with magic runes and causes ruin to decay underneath the would-be assassin and cause him to fall. However, not before he fires an arrow. Before it gets anywhere close to the roaming teen, I stop time on the arrow and make the arrow freeze in the air. I hear running sounds, and I realized I made an error. It seems there are more raiders in the area, and I just let them know of my location.

The Hikari family seemed like an important one, but despite that, only Griffin Wing of the names rang a bell to Artichoke, and only in passing. Sitting on the ground, just half-way understanding the gravity of what Aether was saying made him feel even more foreign. And even more interested. Fiore was a big place, with a big culture- much, much bigger than plague-infested Onibas. It filled him with hope, and he felt his mood reaching new heights. When he got to Fairy Tail, and got the magic lifted, and saw his family again, he decided, he would re-visit Fiore. Maybe he would take a permanent job there. His happy trail of thought was cut off by the sound of footsteps. Artichoke was content to half-listen as Aether continues on, but he split his attention between the armoured man and the window, keeping a gaze fixed outside of the kitchen. Someone was walking by; all he could see was longish hair and tanned skin and the passing figure of a boy who couldn't be much older than him and Deion. He didn't move like a sick person, either. Maybe we could invite him in was the first thing Artichoke thought. It wouldn't hurt to make more allies. Then Aether was racing out the door. Artichoke hadn't seen what had set him off, but he was on his feet anyway. It couldn't have been anything good, from the look on his face, and the teen boy didn't want to be the one standing by when things went south. He looked back, briefly, to see if Deion would follow them, then made his way out the door. He was just in time to see the stark image of the bolt frozen in front of the passer-by's face. Artichoke shot forward, shocked by the image. It took a fleeting moment for his brain to register that he was safe. The time magic had just saved his life. But just as he was about to pat Aether on the armored back, more footsteps drew his attention. One, two, three- four people, all coming towards them. They were sickly and pale, but two of them were carrying crossbows all loaded with bolts similar to the one Aether had just stopped. They were aimed straight at the group. He could guess their intentions were probably the strangely-built house behind them- it was full of food, and they looked like they could use it- but they clearly weren't too picky about taking out the people in the way to get there. Artichoke bit his lip, hard. And took a step towards the newcomer. But all eyes were on Aether. It was like he was invisible. He guessed it made sense, take out the big guy with the magic time-stopping, first, then worry about the little guys later. If there was any time for the will o' wisps to start doing something- any time- it would be now. But they wouldn't even show, buzzing invisibly around his shoulders, almost protectively close; so when the leftmost person, a scrawny, shaggy-haired woman in too-big clothing, made am unexpected move to unload a bolt right in the brown haired newcomer's face, it was all he could do to grab a- too hard, even for strong muscles- arm and pull him out of the way. ooc; sorry for making Niko a human punching bag here :') and for any mistakes but it's 3 in the morning. next up is Deion Ryder

As Aether spoke, Deion found himself trying to focus on what the older male was saying. Even if it didn't particularly interest him all that much. It had already been established that he was from nobility, yet he felt the need to bring it up again and mentioned siblings this time around. He didn't go into heavy details about it, but Deion was able to keep a mental note of what was stated. It seems that family didn't really have a hand in shaping Fiore or the world when he word it like that. Really just sounds like they helped shape some guilds, he thought. He also took careful note when he mentioned his adopted daughter and her status. Interesting, he thought as he listened on.
He could hear it, but did not react. The others seemed to be on it, or at least much more ready than Deion was. It didn't mean Deion wouldn't react of course. He loosened up and adjusted into a kneeling position, looking as if he was prepared to sprint. So he wants to be on the Magic Council, yet he can't say which guild his adopted daughter is in? Doesn't sound like the kind of person I'd like to see running the affairs for the guilds in Fiore, he thought as he watched Aether rush into the hallway. He watched Artie chased afterwards. "Guess we're actually doing this.", he stated as he shifted to a determined look, launching himself out the nearby window with electricity jumping around his body.
He spent little time taking in attackers. No reason to count them right now, he wasn't in a position to even do that. Crossbows, two of them. More of them approaching, unclear if armed but it looks like we're fighting, he thought as he clenched his fists and the lightning surrounding his body began to cling to his skin and form a layer on it. He created a protective layer on his body of lighting to not only protect himself the best he could, but also increase his speed and physical attacks. He launched himself towards one of the attackers with a crossbow. "I wanna see you grit those teeth you bastards!", he shouted as he launched his fist towards the attackers face, hoping to belt them a punch right to the face.

Be the Legend That the World Wants You to Be Indignation --- Auvic words: 538 ❥ MOVEMENT, EXPECTED BUT not so suddenly. He was caught off guard, or at least in a way he was unprepared for. As he heard the bolt, he moved defensively, already preparing to block the shot at the cost of an arm. But it was unnecessary. He was saved, or at least so he thought. The arrorw froze, as if the world around it had stopped in itself. He hung, waiting to return and strike him at any moment. He stuttered backwards, caught unaware by the new presence both floating near him and standing by him. There was no time for thought though. If he thought, he would fear, and that would make this even harder. 'Distance yourself now. We're out numbered, and we don't even know the situation.' Kowan was quick to respond, he previous fears proven accurate. Then more arrived, bodies worming out onto the street from the nearby home. One tried to move him, a sudden pull that felt like nothing. This had happened before; people unaware of his condition trying to move him. As soon as he was aware, he tried to move into the man, not wanting him to hurt himself. It seemed wise, as he realize, that motion being enough to slide out of the way of a secondary bolt. Any second later and he may have lost an eye. He yanked his arm free.
He had to analyze the situation. There was no time for panic. At least one on the rooftops, armed to shoot. Four approaching, one loaded and one unloaded, two with unknown weapons. Potentially more. All sickly, probably infected. Avoiding infection was priority. That meant no blood contact of any kind. As well, three other figures were around him now. He had no clue if he could trust them at all, if they were any different than the rest. But they seemed so, one even charging at the culprits on the offense. Times like this were rare. Rational thought able to prevail amongst his emotions. If Kowan hadn't prepared him beforehand it may have been worse. He didn't want to fight, but running didn't seem like an option. He didn't know who was on the rooftops, and was unprepared to handle that, while these people seemed to be. He had to fight now, else face worse problems.
Slowly, painfully, he activated his magic. It was never a fun experience; his metal shifting outside his skin and into an armor. He clenched, shaking slightly as the metal enclosed him. Rough, basic shapes of steel surrounded him, creating an impromptu armor that encased him entirely, aside from eyes and a small section for his breathing. This way he wouldn't have to worry about the blood at least. He wanted to talk and communicate with his potential allies, but if he couldn't bring himself to trust them, what point was there. He charged at the group, following behind the first member. He wasn't fast, the cumbersome armor slowing him down a decent amount. But he had momentum, and was prepared to collide with the first target in a huge tackle. He moved towards the group as one, prepared to hit whoever got in his way first.

OK, everyone is here and looks like I'm not needed. The arrow that I have frozen just falls safely down to the ground as I unfreeze time. Deon and Anti choke I mean Artichoke comes out and shows off a bit of their own magic and takes care of business. The kid I just saved even uses a spell and begin charging at a group, I'm not sure if that a good idea. “Don't touch them directly, you can get infected!” I'm not sure how much of what I said is going on deaf ears. I can't stop him physically because his body is a bit weird to me, as if he weighs a ton despite his size.
I hear running steps and cursing in the distance. I try to look for a window of escape, but I see a horde of raiders showing up. Every direction, I see raiders showing up, some carrying crow-bows, swords, and throwing axes. “Hey this isn't funny.” If I have just stayed inside the house and keep a low profile, then I wouldn't have put the others in danger, shit!
The thoughts are accelerating inside my head. I want them to slow so I can breathe, but they won't. My breaths come in gasps, and I feel like I will be black out. My heart is hammering inside my chest like it belongs to a rabbit running for its skin. The street spins and I squat on the floor, trying to make everything slow to something my brain and body can cope with. I feel so sick. I want to call for help, but in truth, there is none. I don't know who to call for help, what's their name, who too call, too far away. I'm on the floor in a ball- the foetal position. Where is she, what's my name, who to call, what's today, the street is spinning...blackness..
