Listening to the other talk had a calming effect on Taichi. It allowed him to focus on the other and distract him from any memories that would cause him a guilt trip. He nodded instead of literally voicing his opinion, not fond of how his voice sounded when he was emotionally sad. When the other chuckled he smiled as well, happy that he stumbled upon such an understanding guy. He still had to process everything that happened, but was focusing more on calming himself and keeping his cool.
He continued to agree on what the other had to say. Getting a move on was indeed the best option, he never planned to rest for too long and definitely hadn’t intended on making a scene. He looked around him to take in the nature around him, wanting to remember this spot as the place they met. By now he calmed down to the point that his runny nose opened up again. Breathing in the fresh air was like a sign that his sadness was successfully pushed away, that he had returned back to a normal state. “I was heading East, but I’m no geography genius.”
He smiled lightly at the thought that he was coming across like an idiot, still not getting why the other would risk his own life to help out a stranger. “So I don’t really know what kind of towns are in that direction. Had I known this town had a famous mage hunter I wouldn’t have come here to begin with”
Since they both agreed it was best to leave he started walking to the exit of the park, keeping his eyes on the other to make sure he would tag along. “If you want to head somewhere else that’s fine too. Anywhere but West, that’s where I ran away from.”
The volume of his voice lowered when they reached a more populated part of the park on their way out, automatically becoming more on guard, though he did feel more secure traveling with another mage than on his own. “Let’s change topics though. We could, I don’t know, pretend like we’re on vacation or something.”
And thus Deion joined Taichi in his journey, the young adult now filled with hope. What he could only wish for was now something he dreamed of achieving, to rescue his family and take down the lordship that owned west Fiore.
