He still had some puncture marks but they weren’t bleeding and seemed clean. When he put his foot down it seemed totally fine which meant all the affects was from the venom. After stretching his sore back and making a mental note to add better beds to the infirmary he made his way back down to the basement. He made his way down the creaking stairs and he grabbed a few card board boxes on his way to the currently broken door. He went over to the wooden box and with practiced ease summoned his staff and gave it a good whack on the box. When nothing else emerged he walked over setting his staff against the wall and pulled what was left of the shattered lid from the box. Inside was a collection of books. The ones on the outside where in fairly good shape while the ones in the center were totally destroyed. The ones in the middle were shredded leaving only the covered intact. It looked as if the little creatures were using this box as a nest which was disgusting and fascinating at the same time.

He put the good books in one box and labeled it as such. He then picked up the box and tilted the contents into another box. This box he labeled with “Books Repairable?”. He hoped that someone in the mage might have a magic to fix these books but some appear as if time itself would not be reversed to fix them.
He picked both the boxes up and carried them to the stairs and piled them with the growing number of boxes here but it seemed that the rate of growth was slowing since the initial rush of new missions. Maybe if he grabbed Riley and someone else and tackled one of the more dangerous rooms they would find something good enough to reignite the guilds ambition to clean this basement. The space alone would be wonderful to get back considering how much of this stuff was just pure junk.
He made his way back to the room. He made a reasonable dent but he still had well over half the room to clean. It would help if he wasn’t the only person to come to this room but it may be better since he wouldn’t want people getting hurt.

Grabbing the staff from where he left it he turned slowly gazing at what was left to take. He picked another card board box and gave it a swift hit with the staff. He was lucky this time and instead of rats or even midgets only moths and dust emerged from the hit. So he opened it finding complete garbage just a lot of broken parts to random toys. He wasn’t even sure why they had these. He grabbed a garbage bag and began to pile the items into it before collapsing the box they came in and shoving it in as well. He then gingered tossed the dead creature he killed from the previous days in there as well. Lastly he took his staff and smashed the wooden box the books were in reducing it to splinters and shards of rotten wood before these too went into the bag. He then tied the bag up and tossed it outside the door toward the stair where it hit the ground with a satisfying crunch.

He next chose a metal box with a lock on it. This seemed interesting since it was locked and looked fairly strong. He walked over and when he went to pick it found that his lock pick melted in the lock. This got Durriken angry from annoyance. That was a fairly good lock pick and it wasn’t easy to get those without odd looks though it was completely legal to buy them as long as you didn’t pick locks that don’t belong to you. He grabbed his staff once again and held it in both hands and focused his magic. With a flare of magic he pushed more magic into the staff unlocking some of the more hidden magics of the card. His staff glowed a slight red color before igniting on the far end with a flame. He then held this staff over his hand and brought it down swiftly on the lock shattering it to pieces with a loud clang and then the tinkle of small metal parts falling to the ground.

Slowly the lid started to rise which made Durriken take a few steps back holding his staff in a defensive manner. From the metal box a large eyeball with tentacles began to rise. He could have sworn it was giving him an angry glare as well but it was hard to tell without eyelid or eyebrows. It also brought into question how a floating eyeball stayed moist but he pushed those thoughts from his mind as he waited for it to do something.
From his eye a lazer shot but since Durriken was ready for something random like this after the evil rats and the venomous midgets he dodged it easily catching it on his flame proof staff. It jolted his arms though from the force of the blast which gave him the knowledge that it wouldn’t be a good idea to get hit by them. He pulled out his Knight of Swords and he vanished in a quick movement dodging another lazer blast that left a scorch mark on the wall that would have to be cleaned later.
He reappeared on top of the box and smacked the eye with his staff leaving a burn mark on it and sending it to the far wall. He was surprised though when it didn’t die to that hit. Everything else here seemed to crumble under his magic. Maybe that was the reason it was boxed up. The eye’s iris turned from brown to a menacing red as the tentacles below it rose and each shot a mini lazer.

He pulled his Queen of Wands from his pocket and after taking a few weak beams to his arms and legs which hurt he raised it and the red shimmering shield appeared around him. He smiled as he got a chance to relax and catch his breath. The beams bounced off his shield ricocheting in different directions enough going back toward the eye to make it fall to the ground defeated.
Durriken walked over to it and with a swift and well placed kick sent it back into the box which he slammed shut. He then took his Five of Wands and with a lot of focus shot four shots one on each corner of the box. The flames were hot enough with the amount of magic he put into them that they melted the corners of the box sealing it shut. He would come back for it the next day to take it out and maybe take it to a zoo or talk to Riley with what to do with it.
((OOC: Shinzu had done this before with the Power Swap event doubling the posts to have it count as two. I was just feeling inspired and wrote enough for two missions. Basically I get 100XP for this thread))
