Riley grinned a little to herself, thanking the man at the booth as he handed her a stuffed animal that she was certain was nearly as big as she was. She managed to get one arm around the giant stuffed animal, and pinned it against her side, it's limbs bobbing about and ears tickling at her face as she moved. When Durriken laughed, she could not help but do the same. She felt a bit nervous when he announced that they would go see his mother now, she was not entirely certain why, but it seemed a bit intimidating for some reason.
As they arrived, and the mysterious voice greeted them from within the tent, she start blankly at it for a few moments, not sure what to make of it. A glance at Durri caught him smirking, and she supposed he was used to hearing this. He continued into the tent and she followed, blinking once more at the sudden change of pitch in the woman's voice. She stood out of the way as the woman hugged her son, and could not help but smile a little at the sight - while also feeling a tinge of jealousy.
Riley blushed a little at the woman's words, giving a bit of a bow, that had the plush bunny flailing about wildly under her arm, "my name is Riley Aquila, it's a pleasure to meet you," she said, before taking a seat in one of the chairs, the rabbit resting across her lap. She gave her usual smile to the woman, forcing herself to focus though she dearly wanted to take a better look around at the strange contents of the tent.
"I'm a mage, like Durri, and the guild master of Griffin Wing, the local guild," she began to say, her voice sort of trailing off as she wondered what else she should tell the woman. "Besides that I guess I'm pretty normal. There's not too much of interest about me," she chuckled a bit, mentally noting that this was not entirely true. She did have a rather colorful past, but the woman didn't need to know that...
Or... did she already know it? She was a fortune teller, after all, could she possibly know the details of her past? Or could she only see the future? Riley was a little perplexed by this thought, but chose to listen to the woman a little more before making any definite conclusions.

“Why you under promote yourself child,” she said her voice kind, “Aquila is quite an interesting name.” Seeing her reaction she laughed gently to calm the women and continued. “As Durriken here can tell you as well as I can, the cards are not good enough to pick up exact details at least mine aren’t” she continued alluding to how if Durriken put enough cards together his deck could be very accurate indeed, “Gossip though is very good at picking up details, we travel far and wide, and even have a handful of people here hiding from what’s left of your family. Though we also know you hold no connection to your family business or else we would have never come near this town”
”Family history aside, you sounded quite interesting in the letter my dear son sent me, something concerning a giant demonic chicken?” she said raising her intonation and thin eyebrow at the end.
Durriken sat there as he let his mother talk to Riley it was nice to just be back and he sat back relaxed in his chair just absorbing the peacefulness that flowed through him from being back in his element. He loved Griffin Wing and considered it his home, but it takes a lot to sever all ties with ones roots and his roots were here.

Riley paled just a little as the woman made a comment about her name. It was an uncommon name that had a lot of bad stigma attached to it, so it was no surprise that people might recognize the name - which was still rather infamous in some parts despite the overall inactivity of the family. She remained quiet as the woman explained things to her, and sighed with relief as she was told that they knew she was not like the rest of her family.
As the woman brought up one of her former missions, the teen could not help but laugh a bit, slowly relaxing somewhat, "yes, I did. They were called cockatrice," Riley recalled, leaning back a little in her chair as she did so, "They had the head and neck of a chicken, but they had bodies, wings, and tails like that of a dragon. Some of them could breathe fire, while others could turn you to stone just by making eye contact," she recalled, her hands resting in her lap over the bunny as she did so.
"There were three of them, and they had turned an entire town to stone, and were causing a lot of problems, so I traveled there with a couple of other mages, and we took care of the problem. For the people to return to normal we had to kill the cockatrice, and those that could turn to people to stone can be defeated by something as simply as a mirror~" She rambled, not taking a moment to glance at the oddities.
"Fiore is filled with many strange monsters," she concluded, chuckling a little as she recalled a giant plant trying to eat her, giant lizards, giant scorpions and giant spiders.
"Most of them are over sized..."

Elandil listened to Riley’s story amazed that it was indeed not exaggerated. He figured her son may have gotten some details wrong or blown out of proportion.
“Indeed, seems like Fiore is filled with many large beasts. We use oversized horses to pull our wagons since the ones that carry the tents can get quite large and heavy.”
“Now I hate to impose since you came here to have fun not to just see little old me but could I ask you to give us a little help? It seems that someone bought bad fish last night and a third of the staff got food poisoning, thankfully most were just stage hands, easily replaced but we lost two acrobats, the fire breather oh was interesting until he set the medical tent on fire…let’s see the strong man and the beast tamer. I think a few of the clowns could fill in for somebody else since we tend to be trained in multiple areas but someone would need to fill in for them”
Durriken shuddered when she mentioned the clowns. He always had a huge fear and hatred for them after he had to fill in one time. The slapstick and gags weren’t too bad but the door on the tiny car got stuck for over an hour, not a fun place to be after a show. He still couldn’t stand overly small places or clowns.
“I could fill in for an acrobat mom, I still remember most of my old act. Haven’t been on the tightrope in a while but a bit of practice before the show should help get me ready.”

Riley listened with interest as the older female announced that the members of the circus had been subject to food poisoning, leaving them short handed. However, she did not feel as though she could adequately play most of the roles, for reasons that should have been rather obvious. "I would also probably be best suited as an acrobat, I've noticed that Durriken and I fight similarly, so I think I could probably manage that, though I would not be as good as him," she spoke up, chuckling a bit after a moment or two of musing to herself, "I can't breathe fire, but I have magma magic, so I am naturally more resistant to heat than most... Ah, and I can also use another of my magic as a sort of firework, if you would like me to do that later," she went on to say, her fingers tapping slightly against the large, stuffed bunny as she did so.
"I really can't see myself being a beast tamer or strong man though. Although I'm sure it would be hilarious if I could lift heavy things. The look on people's faces would certainly be worth it..." She paused for a moment, appearing thoughtful, and then giving a bit of a mischievous grin, a rarity for her, "well, technically I could do that as well, so I will do whatever you wish me to do. I am at your service," she gave a bit of a bow to the woman as she said this, clearly serious about her offer.

“In all honesty, fire breathing can be done by anyone it just takes practice and no fear of the fire, there are tricks, I don’t know them but we can probably get them from the man between trips to the bathroom. I can help you with a routine if you want to do the acrobat act or you can do strong women, I agree it would get quite a rise from the crowd.” Durriken said to her.
”Well my dear seems like the choice is up to you. We can work you in anywhere you like and have no preference. We can cut an act or two from the show or pull from other people to make it work. Anywhere you want to go will make it easier for us and we can work around you. Though between you and me dear, the acrobat costume is much cuter then the strong woman’s”

"Ahh, is that so?" Riley asked, getting slowly to her feet and once more tucking the stuffed rabbit under one of her arms as she did so. "Well. In that case I believe I too will be an acrobat, I cannot quite imagine what a strong woman is supposed to wear, but somehow is sound rather revealing to me..." Her voice trailed off for a moment as her free hand rose to her head, running her fingers lightly through her hair as she shifted her weight on her feet.
"Well, I'm ready to learn whenever you're ready to teach," she said, rather simply, as she turned her attention to Durriken, her green eyes focusing intently on him as she waited for him to lead the way.

“Sure,” he said also getting up. “I don’t think you will need much help you have all the skills needed just a bit of practice on a tight rope and trapeze. Other than that it just takes a bit of creativity to figure out what would look interesting.”
Elandil also got up and with speed that showed she was not as old as she acted pulled out a ribbon tape measure from a small drawn as well as a piece of paper and a small chunk of charcoal.
”Now let me get some measurements so we can get your costume ready in time.”
With the same speed she measured Riley’s arm length, her neck, her waist and her inseam. She wrote each number down on the paper and folded it putting it into her sleeve. She then looked at her son with a calculated eye at his arms that were slightly more muscular and his slightly wider chest.
”I think we still have your old costume Durri but we will probably need to let it out a tiny bit for your arms and chest, what have you had him doing hmm?” she said with a fake accusing tone that her smile gave away as being a joke.

"Mm, well, with any luck I'll learn what I don't already know quickly," she remarked, giving a bit of an absent smile, she watched as the older woman suddenly stood up, drawing out a measuring tape that she then proceeded to use on the somewhat bewildered teen. With great speed, the woman took her measurements, something that Riley had never had done to her before, before moving on to do the same to Durriken - sort of.
Riley took a moment to observe Durriken herself, and though she hadn't really noticed it, likely because she saw him pretty much every day, he had indeed filled out a little more. She chuckled a little at the woman's words, giving a bit of a shrug.
"Oh, you know, the usual. Fighting bandits, dark guilds, monsters, that sort of thing," she replied, and though her tone was a joking one it was more or less true. He was no doubt being exposed to much more fighting and such situations since joining the Griffin Wing guild. Members did have a habit of attracting trouble, and missions were dangerous, of course, but it also made everyone stronger as a whole.
"I guess we should go practice now?" The dark haired teen asked as she turned to Durriken, brow arched slightly, "I'd hate to make too big of a fool out of myself in front of everyone."

Durriken made a somewhat annoyed sound with his breath at her last comment.
“You won’t make a fool of yourself and in all honesty, you know everything you really need, we just need to figure out what to do together for the act. We got all this magic might as well use some of it.” Durriken stated.
Durriken saw her fight on multiple occasions; she has all the flexibility and coordination needed to do the act. They had enough time for him to teach her the boring act but he felt it would be better to make their own. He had some favors he could throw in for music and effects though he didn’t think they would need many of those.
Since it was clear they were getting ready to go Elandil moved toward the back of the tent and pulled away a part of her tent revealing the area behind it. She then reached out and pulled out two paper cones with bright pink fluff ball attached to the top. She handed one to Durriken who grinned and one to Riley. They were still warm which meant she knew around the time they were going to arrive.
Some would guess that it was because of her future seeing but Durriken knew better, with so many people who knew him here, as soon as he walked through that get Zippepi probably sent a man over to let his mother know they were in the circus.
“A little birdy told me you never had cotton candy before. Now enjoy and get out of here.” She said her tone always sweet as she ushered the pair out.
And as they left she yelled out at the top of her lungs “And next time I expect to see grandchildren I’m not getting any younger!”
With that comment she shut the flap and Durriken turned red from his lower chest up to his ears in embarrassment and nearly choked on his bit of cotton candy.

Riley arched a brow at Durriken's apparent annoyance, though said nothing of it. In truth, there was a big training between her training and that of an actual acrobat, which was that his skills had been honed to perform in front of crowds of people, while her own was to avoid crowds, to avoid danger, and to be used in the shadow. Her biggest fear wasn't messing up so much as it was choking up in front of such a large crowd.
The older woman suddenly moved towards the back of her tent, where she pulled out two paper cones that had a mass of fluffy looking stuff on it. She had heard of this treat before, recognizing it only because it had been described to her. Her eyes lit up like that of a child's, "thank you," she breathed, accepting the treat rather happily.
They were more or less booted out of the tent, and Riley cast a glance back at the old gypsy, about to say that it was nice to meet her when she suddenly yelled for Durri to bring back children next time. She could only laugh at this, her cheeks a little red as she began to pull pieces of cotton candy off of the large ball of it, feeding herself the sweet treat to distract her mind.
"Mmm, she murmured, enjoying the way the candy melted on her tongue. "This tastes so good..." She went on to mumble, clearly trying to change the subject, "maybe I should try to buy a cotton candy machine for the guild..." She joked - though in fact, she was half joking and half serious.

As they munched and the blood returned from his face, Durriken lead them to the largest tent. As they got there a large rotund man in a purple pinstripe suit with a top hat and cane opened a flap and waved them in. He tilted his hat toward Riley and flashed them a grin.
“She seems a bit frail lad, don’t break her.” He said meaning it in two different ways as his eyes sparkled mysteriously.
Inside one would expect it to be very dark but it was filled with different colored of magical lights that gave off light but not heat. Around the outside edge there were wooden bleachers, enough to easily fit one thousand people. Next was a metal link cage that was a precaution since animals were involved. The very middle was an open area with different things laid out. These items could easily be changed throughout the show but currently they had the acrobat stuff laid out. Figures his mother would have had his stuff ready before he even said yes.
There was a giant net right in the middle with two poles on each side with ladders attached. There were platforms halfway up and at the top. Across the lower platforms a tightrope was strung across and from the top traipse bars were kept. On the ground there were spring boards as well as seesaws to launch them high into the air.
If they really needed something it could probably be found by the time show started. The circus was amazed sometimes at all the random odds and ends they had left over from acts long since ended.
“Welcome to what was once my world.” He said gesturing to all within the giant tent.

Riley followed Durriken closely, not wanting to get lost in such a big place with so many people that were milling about. As they came to the largest tent, an a man allowed them entry, she waved politely to him, giving a soft chuckle as he told Durri not to 'break' her. She didn't bother to point out that she was much more durable than she looked, but the glint in his eyes made her think that perhaps she was missing something.
As they entered the massive tent, Riley found herself turning around as she walked, occasionally walking backwards as she took in the sheer size of the tent. She strode after Durri absently, lagging behind as she was busy observing the new surroundings with awe. The setting was strange and new to her, so she had a hard time focusing on any one thing until Durriken spoke up to her.
Her attention flickered to him and she smiled a bit at him, "seems pretty interesting," she said, though that was the least of it. She rose a hand, raking her fingers through her hair as she did so, "so, what shall we do first? I have to say that I don't have the slightest clue where we should start or anything like that..."

“Well, that puts us at about the same place. There are so many options and I don’t really want to just teach you the old act. If I know these people, they will already be bragging up that the Guild Master and Guild Assistant of Griffin Wing are performing tonight so most of Onibas will be here. And since it is us, they will be expecting some magic and not just acrobatics.”
He looked around at the different items trying to come up with ideas. The sheer number of options is what was messing him up, they could do nearly anything they wanted so it was leaving him muse less.
“There is probably a lot of potential in your Heavily Body I think I will be mostly using my Seven of Swords unless you want to work something in with the Magma since I can walk on it. This tent is fireproof and we can dig a trench for the magma if you want and by ‘we’ I mean we can get someone else to do it while we practice. They can also probably find something that those strings you used before won’t cut through.”

Riley chuckled a little, raising a hand to ruffle her hair slightly, anxiously, "well, no pressure then, eh?" She said, once more allowing her eyes to drift to the things they were lain out before them as she played around with the option in her head - but unfortunately, she was pulling blanks on what they should do.
"Yeah, I'll use whatever magic will work. I can use either of those kinds of spells interchangeably," the dark haired teen pointed out, as she slowly brought her arms up, crossing them over her chest, she began to wander towards the equipment, striding around it thoughtfully, though there was not a lot that was coming to her mind involving it - having never seen a circus before, she had no definite idea of how most of it was used.
"Maybe when it's our turn, we can make them turn out all the lights, and I could use orbs of my Heavenly Body magic to light the entire area?" She wondered, one hand raising, the fingers tapping gently at her lips as she played around with such thoughts in her head. "I could even have us 'fall' from the darkness and into the center of the ring or something... Or I could outline the entire ring with a ring of lava, as well... I don't really know what to do, to be entirely honest..." She concluded, turning to look towards Durriken as she did so.
