"Princess, you must be careful out here." The voice of her maid cautiously warned as she skipped alongside the pond aligning her castle walls. Syana's gaze turned to look back at her maid a warm smile, the guards were standing everywhere and the atmosphere felt rather awkward, but the young child paid no attention to it as she balanced among the small wall that separated the pond from the path with her arms spread out and each foot placed in front of the other with a wide smile amongst her lips. "Princess, your father is expecting some important company and the last thing he wants is for his daughter to be up to her neck in fish water. Oh for heavens -" As this was said, Syana began to burst into a run with her arms spread wide and a laugh escaping her mouth. "But it's fun! You should try it, Mellany." With a cry of frustration coming from behind her and a mumbled complaint, Syana began to skip along the pond with a large gait, her blue boots tapping the floor each time and her ribbons hitting her shoulders. With one more skip, Syana found her legs staggering and missing the wall. She was heading straight for the pond until a nearby guard pulled her into his arms one swift movement. "you should listen to Mellany, Syana. Your father won't be very happy if you get muddy or dirty on visits. You are supposed to be an heir for the kingdom after all." With that said, he placed her down and her hand was soon grabbed by her maid. "I think it's best if we go back inside. You had your fun five minutes outside. Now let's go and greet those newcomers." Tugging the young girl behind her, Syana looked longingly back towards her playground before watching the doors to her castle draw closer. When inside, Syana heaved a sigh and soon enough began to pout. "The visitor has a kid your age, you know. Why don't you play with him INSIDE the palace and not outside in the courtyard." Mellany went on and all Syana could do was roll her eyes. If he was a visitor who knew her father, he was probably going to be as boring as most of the visitors who came. She just wanted to play with the light fairies who floated around her room and outside.
After finally arriving at the foyer where both her brother and father stood, Syana tugged her hand from her maids grip and instantly rant behind a pillar while peering out from it with a curious yet rebellious glare. No way was she going to play with some new kid just because her maid and father demanded of it. It seemed her brother, father and maid were talking to this man but she couldn't quite hear what they were saying. Her emerald gaze fell down upon the boy who stood next to him, raising an eyebrow she scoffed. He was a pipsqueak! Well he looked it from afar anyway.

Syo was standing next to his father, listening to his conversation with the king while direct his gaze to the things around him. At first, he was reluctant to go along, but it was nonetheless a means of gaining wisdom and experience in the world. Something he didn't do very often. By this point in time, he had been reading a lot and getting to play with the local children every now and then, but was tagging along with his father on his business this time around. The conversation was obviously above him despite the knowledge he had gained from all the books he had read, so he wasn't actively listening.
Spotting someone spying on him from behind a pillar, he saw they were similar to the king they were in front of. Tilting his head, he wondered why they were hiding away. Shy? No, that face wasn't one of shyness. Looking to his father and his acquaintance, he made a decision on the spur of the moment. Because seriously, what kid would sit and listen to adults talking when there was another child around to play with? Tugging on his father's cloak, he asked if it was alright to go walk around the large room they were in. With permission from the both of them, who seemed to understand what he was going to do, they smiled and nodded.
He had already started his physical training the year before, so now at the age of 7, he was confident knowing that he was probably more trained than someone else his own age. Waiting for the girl to duck her head behind the pillar, then running across the room and hiding on the other side of the pillar. With his soft leather shoes, and his light footwork, he managed to hold back the sound he made unconsciously. Circling the pillar, he spoke out to the girl while standing up straight, holding his hand out to her.
「I'm Syo. Are you the Princess?」 Having seen her appearance, this was the conclusion the boy came to.
For his own appearance, Syo had a sand-color cloak with the large hood down, and it reaches down to just above his ankles. A good cloak used to protect from the sand. Underneath, he was wearing a black sleeveless shirt and some loose-fitting pants of a dark brown. His hands were also wearing black gloves, and there were a pair of goggles around his neck, probably used to protect from the sand.

Syana's eyes lit up as she watched from afar at the kids interesting clothes. He looked bored and she just scoffed. Obviously was as important as her father was and thus would act it. His eyes seemed to wander the area before instantly looking at her from afar. Syana's face stung red and she hid behind the pillar quickly. Don't tell me he saw me... Syana waited a few seconds before peering around again, but the boy had gone. The boys father seemed to be smiling and she narrowed her eyes curiously as she looked around the room quickly. Figures, he went to the bathroom or something like that. "I'm Syo. Are you the princess?" Suddenly a voice came from behind her and she whipped around in a quick movement, a squeak escaping her lips and she found herself face to face with the boy from earlier. Standing there absolutely dumbfounded, the child cocked her head as she tried to recall what had just happened. Surely she would have heard him coming, so how... HOW!? "How did you..." She trailed off and puffed up her cheeks in the usual pout.
Looking him up and down, Syana realised that the actual shrimp was her and not him. She found herself standing on her tiptoes and coming to eye level with the boy just for a few seconds before staggering. "Yes. I am the princess." She replied with an awkward posture as she tried to stay balanced, arms swaying awkwardly while she tried to keep at eye level with the boy. "But my name is a mystery so nyhhh" Sticking her tongue out, Syana toppled over and she grabbed the pillar for support, straightening herself up and then clearing her throat. "Who are you? How does my daddy know you?" With a suspicious gaze, Syana's ears perked slightly and her head whipped around to see her nursemaid, Mellany, come over. "Been told to tell you that your fathers and brother are having a serious conversation now and they'd like it if you showed Syo around, Syana. Take him to your room and show him your expanse of toys or even the playroom. I'll be outside the room if you need me." Mellany spoke with a smile on her face and a sort of deadpan tone added, but Syana wasn't able to pick up on it and looked hesitantly towards Syo. "Forgive her, lil' boy. She's never had anyone to share her toys with." Syana just stuck her tongue out at Mellany in a form of defeat and took Syo's wrist. "This way, then."

Watching the princess get a bit of a fright from his sudden appearance, he smiled wryly in his head. Sure, that was his intent, but she took it rather differently than he thought. But still, it was fun to surprise someone. Good training, too. Seeing her on her tiptoes trying to match his height, he tilted his head slightly but made no attempt to lower himself for her. Not being stubborn or arrogant, just simply not seeing the point in it. Blinking as the princess stuck out her tongue at him, he showed a slight smile on his face. Acting childish. Well, we are kids, after all. Thinking that to himself, he wondered how to answer her questions.
Before he could answer though, the maid appeared and said the princess, named Syana, should guide him around and play in her room while their parents discussed business. But what caught Syo's attention was something else. He was always the observant child, and he noticed the difference in attitude of the maid. Her tone of voice, way of speaking to him, an outsider, and that rather expressionless smile which he had seen on others before.
Having his wrist grabbed, he was dragged off by the princess, Syana, looking back at Mellany once more as he was taken away. He didn't like her. Something didn't feel right. Intuition? Who knows. Turning back to the one who was dragging him, he opened his mouth while they walked, since he caught up to her pace so he wouldn't be dragged along.
"Princess, where are we going?"

A bit shocked at the fact he was being guided into a girls room by the girl himself, Syo was also somewhat befuddled at the attitude of the princess who was more tomboyish than he thought. From what he knew of the opposite gender, they usually wouldn't lead a boy into their room. In fact, one of the books of his father's that he had read in secret, had something to do with 'courting' a woman, or 'bedding' a woman in their room, and something about stuff that is done behind closed doors. Of course, the child obviously had no idea what any of the content in the book meant. The rest of the story was great though, if a bit dark in nature.
Banzai for child innocence.
Following the princess up the stairwell, he couldn't help but voice out some things. 「Princess, how large is this place? And how far is your room? A library would be nice, too...」 Leaving that last bit rather silent, barely a whisper, he made an attempt at conversation to this princess that didn't seem to take too well to him. Well, he was a random child who was the son of a random stranger that was meeting with her father who happened to be the king. How could she not be suspicious?
