((So many group quests, it's like an onslaught)) With the sight of the snowy mountain ahead of them and Syana adjusted the strap of her sleeve and she gazed up at the mountain ahead. The mountain looked jagged, rocky and steep and there looked to be a lot of potential falls. Syana's green eyes moved to Kasumi and Maddox. With the nights memories being a blur to her, she found herself gripping onto the staff tightly with a tense expression on her face as she lifted her head up towards the mountains. The snow was definitely a blinding colour, but with the grey clouds floating aloof above them it was clear there was going to be a snowfall again soon.
She took a few steps forward before looking over towards the two again. "Looks like today is the day we climb?" She asked curiously, tilting her head to the side and looking between the two with her hands clenched around the staff, fingers cold from the nippy ice air and her dress dragging through the snow. Syana began to realise just how close the three were becoming and Syana began to smile slowly while looking the two over. It was nice to have more friends and it seemed Kasumi and she were beginning to become friends closely and quickly.

Kasumi was never the biggest fan of cold climates. Wearing white woolly clothing with heavy insulation and sunglasses, she gritted her teeth as she scaled the mountain. Some might question the need for sunglasses, but she knew that the sunlight reflecting in the snow could potentially be blinding. Having heard a clue about DCD was in the mountains, Kasumi and the others wasted no time in investigating the claims.
"No, really?" Kasumi responded sarcastically, clearly not enjoying the weather as a blast of cold air smashed into her. Scrunching her face, she tried to look away from the windy attack, using the hood on her jacket as a buffer. She perservered though, pushing through the wind and looking towards Maddox and Syana before calling out to them.
"Hopefully we actually get a clue from this and we're not just going an a wild goose chase." She didn't want to envision how frustrated she would be if it turned out this was all for nothing. She clenched her chakrams, her grip on them not as comfortable as she liked due to having to wear gloves. Hopefully they could get this done quickly so that she could get back to a place that wasn't trying to freeze her to death.

Maddox had spent the better part of the last three years roaming mountains, so he wasn't entirely bothered by the the fact that he had to climb another mountain, even if it happened to be a snow covered one.
The one this that did bother him was his eye, or rather lack there of. Occasionally he would reach one of his large hands up, massaging gently at his eye patch with a swirl of his fingers before allowing his hand to fall away again. He wasn't really sure if something was actually bothering him, or if he was having ghost pains since the man that took his eye had used an ice crafted dagger to do it, but it was still pretty irritating either way.
"Tell me immediately if you get wet or start to lose feeling in your extremities." He announced after Syana and Kasumi had said their pieces. "It can get quite cold as you venture further up the mountain, so please say if you need to stop to rest or warm up." As per usual, his face was half covered by a mask of cloth - though this one seemed thicker than usual. Additionally he was wearing a heavier coat and had a rather long, think scarf coiled around his neck. On his back was a rather large, bulgy backpack that was stuffed with everything from provisions, to blankets to spare clothing and fire starting materials.
If venturing across mountains had taught him anything, it was to be prepared for anything...

The temperature is below freezing, and the harsh winds don't help matters. Skin shouldn't be revealed without risk of frost burn. Climbing the mountain will not be easy with the ground being jagged and heavy snow. The further you go up to the mountain, the harder it is to go up. There'll be less space and the snow will get deeper. Without proper equipment, it'll be difficult to get anywhere.
NOTHING HAS HAPPENED YET, CARRY ON!

With the cold, bitter wind and the frozen floor lingering around Syana's boots she couldn't help but feel cold and shiver, but it wasn't like she was going to complain about it. It seemed Kasumi wasn't at all happy with the situation, simply making a sarcastic remark towards Syana's idle comment. Looking towards her friend with a worried expression, the Light Mage moved close to her and rubbed her arm assuringly.
"Hopefully we actually get a clue from this and we're not just going an a wild goose chase." She stated soon after, her eyes on the mountain before looking back towards both Syana and Maddox. Syana found herself looking towards Maddox for some reassurance, clearly this was going to be hard and with the wind picking up it may seem like shelter would soon be necessary. Syana wanted to get there before the Blizzard, however. She knew the dangers that accompanied the Blizzard, especially on this mountain. "Tell me immediately if you get wet or start to lose feeling in your extremities. It can get quite cold as you venture further up the mountain, so please say if you need to stop to rest or warm up." Syana watched him for a brief moment longer, her eyes moving up and down his clothing before comparing it to Kasumi's. Sure, she herself was cold but she had magic that could help her heat up.
"Maddox, Kasumi could get really sick... Could you help her?" Syana asked, a worried tone in her voice as she turned her emerald green orbs towards Kasumi and moving closer to her. With the ribbons falling down either side of her hair and brushing against her dress, the Light Mage began to clench onto the staff at the sudden change in temperature with a strong gust of wind before deciding to press on. There had to be a clue up the mountain and Syana did NOT want to end up losing someone she cared for in the cold. As she stepped onto the mountain pathway, bits of rock began to crumble at the cliff and on the mountain ridge. As she listened to the tiny bits of rock break off and fall, she shoved the snow out of the way with her foot before turning back to face the other two. "It's really unsteady... Be careful, please? Low down should be okay, but..." As she called this out, her eyes lifted towards the top of the mountain. It looked sturdy, but she couldn't tell truthfully under all the snow that covered the ground. "Just be careful..."

Kasumi nodded her head at Maddox to acknowledge his statement. Kasumi had worn many layers underneath the clothin and even still she could feel the cold on her. It wasn't a particularly pleasant feeling and one that she didn't really want to get used to. A part of her lamented that she could only control the winds while singing. If she didn't need to sing, she could easily push the winds away from them. It would've been more pleasant at the very least.
Kasumi immediately stopped in her tracks as she watched some rocks fall off the cliff. She could feel the urge to run away rising in her. At the same time though, she couldn't leave Syana and Maddox behind. She couldn't leave her friends behind again. At least, that's what she told herself.
"Got it." Kasumi said, making sure she took careful steps as she continued to climb. The wind certainly wasn't helping things. She kept her centre of mass low to the ground, not allowing herself to be carried away by the wind. Kasumi reckoned that if she was careful, she'd be able to get through this crisis. There was always that bit of doubt though that questioned if she was ready.
"I have to do this." Kasumi uttered quietly to herself, using that determination to push her through.

"Mn?" Maddox asked, looking towards Kasumi as Syana pleaded for him to help her friend, which was just like Syana, really. They were both cold, that much he was sure of, so he thought for a moment before unraveling the scarf around his neck.
"Stay still for a moment, Miss Ito." He instructed, feeling the cold biting at his neck once he had removed the scarf, he draped it around Kasumi's shoulders and neck, should she allow him to. It was a bit heavy, but it was warm from having been wrapped around him and helped to stave off the cold wind that heartlessly tore into them.
Once finished with the red head, he moved on to Syana, removing his cloak this time and tossing it over her shoulders from behind. His large hands slipped around her neck from behind, gently fastening the cloak together just below her throat. Like the scarf, the cloak was a bit on the heavy side, but it broke the wind surprisingly well and carried his scent - which faintly resembled sweetened cinnamon.
Hesitating before drawing his hands back, he gestured forwards. "You two lead the way. I will follow just behind you in case you fall, so do not worry." He assured, buttoning his jacket up to his throat since he was now without a scarf, he rubbed at his eye patch briefly before starting to move forwards again.

As the group travel up the mountain, they come across a dead body buried in the snow. He's wearing proper mountain-climbing gear, but perhaps the weather got to him? Or maybe he died from the disease? To find out more information about who he is you could search through his pockets and find out. On his back is a red backpack that's briefly open. If the young adventurers look closely they will see a piece of paper. On the tip, it looks like it's government official. Somewhere far off~ Man 1:"Just a little further a head ahead now I believe." Man 2: "Aye!" Man 1:"What is that up ahead?! It looks like an old cave?" Man 2: "Watch out!" ~~ Out in the distance, is a loud bang noise! A small rumble can be felt from here. Even local the Beasts are running out of dodge. Up above is a wave of snow that's violently coming down the mountain. It'll be dangerous to stick around and get caught in the mess. However, the body before them can provide information of some kind or not. It can be dangerous to touch it. What will our adventures will do?

"Got it." Kasumi replied briefly to Syana's warnings as they made their way up the mountain; the sweet smell of Maddox's cloak draped over her was enough to keep her warm with just the thought let alone the cloak itself was keeping her body cool, but that wasn't what truly kept her going. Luckily the area was still light, she could see everything around her. With a quick yet paced gait, she found herself staring face to face with a mound on the hill. Syana's eyes lifted towards the path ahead of them, her eyes dashing side to side to ensure that nothing looked odd either side of them. With the comforting steps of her partners behind her, Syana's hands gripped onto the staff as she used it to prod the floor aligning the cliff edge.
The further they got up the mountain, the more her body seemed to ache. The cold air stung her lungs and the air began to feel casually thinner with each step, but that wasn't watch attracted her attention. What caught her attention caused her to freeze, eyes honed towards the snow. Closing her eyes, she focused for a few seconds and opened them to see just what that red thing was. "A body..." She breathed. "He's not alive, his body is frozen." With no sight of magic or blood running through the man's body and Syana's eyes faltered for a few seconds before she rubbed the side of her head due to the sharp pain that accompanied the focus. She stood there for a few seconds while processing what this being could quite possibly be doing dead on the path.
Syana took a few steps closer, beginning to wonder who was caught up in this before pausing as the ground seemed to faintly shake. Syana's eyes lifted up towards the distance where she could feel the faint sensation of an avalanche drawing closer and closer before her eyes moved towards the two in front of her before dropping towards the corpse. She began to ponder what to do, her face composed when it finally came to her mind. With the avalanche drawing closer and area around her shaking, the best thing she could do was protect the area from the tumbling snow. With her staff held close, she closed her eyes and braced herself for a lot of trouble.
A golden wall began to form around the three of them and the body, forming a dome before going invisible other than the occasional wave of gold running over it like a bubble in the light. Syana's hands clenched onto the staff and she found herself breathing heavily while concentrating, bracing for the power of the snow.

Kasumi followed Maddox's orders, embarrassed as he draped his scarf around her. She could smell his scent on it and she didn't really know how to feel. Why did he do that? Was it just a random act of kindness? Kasumi looked over to him, confused, as she watched him put his cloak on Syana as well. Kasumi wanted to ask if he was ok, but he probably didn't need to wear them at the moment.
It felt like they had been climbing for ages. The view seemed to just go on forever and she found herself wondering if they had made any meaningful progress. Ordinarily, she would make note of some landmarks in the area and use that to guide her, but everything was covered in snow. It made it very hard to tell if mounds were actual landmarks or if it was just a pile of snow.
Kasumi stopped in her tracks as she saw something that finally contrasted against the snow. The fact that it was a dead body soured the moment for her though. Kasumi stayed quiet as Syana told them that he was dead. To be fair, it'd be very hard for someone to stay alive in conditions like this but Kasumi wondered if it was the cold that claimed him or something more malicious.
"Be careful." Kasumi remarked suddenly, cautiously approaching the dead body. "For all we know, he could have DCD. Just make sure that you don't make direct contact with his skin when investigating the body." Before she had a chance to touch the body however, she heard a loud bang. Jumping backwards, she looked up and saw an avalanche approaching.
"Maddox, take a look at the body! I'll try and help Syana with the barrier." Kasumi ordered as she noticed a bubble was erected around them. While Kasumi knew that Syana's magic was stronger than hers, she still wasn't sure how strong the avalanche would be. Reacting quickly, Kasumi began to sing.
As she did, wind started to swirl around her and the others, eventually forming a swirling barrier of wind around the bubble Syana had created. In a sense, Kasumi's barrier was acting more as a buffer, hopefully reducing the power of the avalanche once it reached Syana. Kasumi concentrated on the song, conveying the power of her emotions into it.

Following the girls up the mountain, Maddox was the last to spy the body and he was ready to dive at Syana in the event that she felt the need to try to bring it back to life or something. Luckily, the thought didn't really seem to enter her mind, and he breathed a temporary sigh of relief.
Unluckily, the mountain wanted to fall on them.
He would have preferred that they try to find a safe place to hide before setting up a barrier, but the girls were quick to stand their ground and he was forced to remain within the barrier they had created and was told to simply search the body.
Which was all well and good but he didn't care what was on the body when a mountain was falling on them.
Extending his hands, the hands of his shadow moved with him for a moment, but soon seemed to take on a life of their own. Slithering across the snow and towards the man, the shadows embraced the dead body, searching his clothes and belongings for anything of note or use. When he found that two hands were not enough, he promptly borrowed Syana and Kasumi's shadows for good measure.
Eventually, one of the hands tugged out a piece of paper before retracting back to Maddox and handing it off to his mitten covered hands. He had yet to look at it, though, because he was still more worried about what was going on with the avalanche.

A tsunami of screaming silver falling from the mountain. The snow comes crashing down onto the adventurers, but the snow merely goes around them due to their barrier. The avalanche ferocity destroys the young mages barrier, but only until it's well over them and there's no more threat. Snow simples cover everyone up and bury them underneath. However, the adventures can simply climb out and find the road harder to climb. On the note that was captured by Maddox will say “Head into the cave that we sent in your briefing. Investigate the cave to find any clues regarding the virus. We believe this cave to be the origin of the virus.” If the adventurers look further up ahead, they will find a cave that reveals thanks to the avalanche.

Syana found herself gripping onto the staff tightly as the barrier stood firm and strong as the snow collided over them in a blanket of sheer force. Syana found herself tensing up at the sudden collision, but she kept a strong mask on despite wanting to just break the bubble and flee the sensation; luckily enough that Kasumi's own spell help deter avalanches true force. As the avalanche seemed to just form over them, Syana just looked up at the blanket which then shrouded their whole bubble in darkness. Syana knew what would happen then, the bubble popped and the blanket fell over then.
With pitch black covering them, Syana found it hard to breathe but her body seemed to form warmth which hugged her tightly as she dug through the snow that seemed to just melt at her touch. As she used the staff to help her snake through the snow, she gasped for air the second the snow seemed to disappear and she felt the bitter cold of the sky and wind. She sat on the snow for a few seconds to catch her breath, the cold air seeming to help relax her tense body and she looked side to side; her eyes catching sight of the cave before looking down at the mound of snow. She caught sight of her tunnel which she miraculously clambered out of and she stood up with her staff being her support. She lifted a hand, using the ball of light to form into a ray of light and just melt the snow slightly more; making it easier to escape if they end up having issues. With her face focused, she lifted her gaze towards the cave once more; finally deciding to head towards it slowly. She could take the advantage and recuperate. As she entered the cave, she looked around carefully. Sure the climb was difficult and Syana felt her body tense up, but she wasn't sure what she'd fine. The cave wasn't there before so it must have shown its head on the sudden shift of snow.
Her chest tensed up and she sat down and pressed her back to the wall of the cave. Tilting her head back, she closed her eyes and took a few deep breaths. The pain in her head throbbed crazily and spots appeared in her gaze, but as she relaxed her body the pain seemed to fade away. Her poor body tried to regain the magic she had lost, but it hurt her. The pain was beginning to grow bearable and only one person knew about the pain that Syana had to go through with healing and spells in general. As the pain subsided, Syana let her face relax and she leaned over to grab some snow; playing about with it in her hands before looking around. Sure, she was sat at the mouth of the cave where she was at less threat of danger of any virus that could be within and Maddox and Kasumi were nearby. She just hoped they were okay in the mound of snow. She had tried to thin it as much as possible, but she wasn't going to admit that she may or may not have used up most of her magic just with that barrier alone.

Once the avalanche made contact with the barrier, Kasumi stepped backwards. The intensity of the original attack caused her to recoil backwards. She tried her best to keep it up though, putting her energy into singing in an attempt to help out the others. This was the least she could do and she downright refused to be useless. Unfortunately, her magic was only so strong and she could feel the song breaking as the winds dissipated, causing the snow to fall on top of them.
Kasumi's first reaction was to panic. She couldn't see anywhere around her and the snow surrounding her made it hard for her to breathe. While she was still able to use some magic, the snow made it so that she couldn't sing, making it impossible for her to manipulate the winds to blow away the snow for her. While she was thinking about what to do, she felt a strange warmth. The snow started to slowly melt around her and Kasumi used this opportunity to dig her way out of the snow.
Once she had made it out, she regained her breathing, turning towards the new entrance that had been formed. At first, she wanted to rush into the tunnel. A part of her made her apprehensive though. What was in that tunnel? For all they know, it could be home to some ridiculously strong monster or a base for bandits. It was because of that that she looked towards Syana, slowly approaching her and turning back towards where Maddox would be.
"We should probably wait for him before entering the tunnel." Kasumi said, sitting down next to Syana and taking a breather. "Are you doing ok? That avalanche was really strong. I tried to hold back its full power with my magic, but I'm not as strong as you are." Kasumi looked concerned, hoping that her friend wasn't going to exhaust herself like she did back in Onibas. Kasumi wasn't sure if she would be able to save her if she collapsed on the mountain. Would she have to leave her behind if that happened?

The pressure of the sliding snow collapsed the two magical barriers that the girl's created, burying the trio beneath a blanket of snow that threatened to suffocate them. Maddox wasn't afraid of the crushing feeling, nor was he afraid of death, but as he clawed his way towards the surface, one of his hands suddenly appearing through the snow like a zombie from a grave, he managed to drag his head above the snow. It seemed that he had somehow managed to be the last one out of the snowbank, which damaged his ego a bit, though he tried not to let it bother him. Syana and Kasumi were already seated at the mouth of a cave, apparently waiting for him.
Dragging himself out of the snow and panting softly, he realized that by the grace of some higher power he had managed to hold on to the paper that the shadow had given to him. Sitting in the snow to catch his breath, he glanced over the contents. It basically just said to explore a cave to learn about the virus.
A cave.
Twisting his head around slowly, he looked to the girls once more, confirming that they were sitting next to a cave.
Shit.
Hopping to his feet, he dusted himself off as he walked towards them, ignoring the cold that was biting at his face. "The papers say that there might be clues regarding the virus inside of this cave." He warned, looking between the duo. "Are either of you injured? Wet? Chilled? Hungry?" He asked, his questions sort of slurring together as he rushed them out.
He really didn't like being near a cave that was possibly infected with such a nasty virus...
