Battler casually walked through Clover in his olive purple suit as usual, his demonic features hidden. No horns, no pale white skin, no luminescent hair, and his eyes barely glowing. The weather was sunny with a few white clouds here and there, and a calm breeze without much of a heat wave around. A peaceful and comfortable atmosphere, though his suit was slightly out of place compared to those around him. Not that anyone paid him much attention since he held himself well to cause a sort of aristocratic feel to him so no one bothered to approach him.
His usual tag-along, Sakura, was currently elsewhere doing another job for him while he focused on gathering information. There were things that a female would be better at, especially when it involved going to a public bath. He could change his appearance, yes, but Battler couldn't change his gender. His usual approach would have been to 'woo' the target at another time, possibly at night, but he found doing that now to be sickening. Which was fair enough, given that for the last three years, he had done it simply as a means of stress relief and because he could die the next day. No strings attached, and even some semblance of love in it at times.
That aside, Battler could suddenly see something odd in his surroundings. It was nothing physical, but something his demon eyes could see with their ability to see mana. There was a presence which didn't match. Yes, it was mana in essence, but it appeared more like his own. Demonic energy, that is. His interest piqued, Battler went down the side alley he saw the energy flowing. Out of sight of his surroundings and no presence in the darkened alley, what did he find?

Find something useful for Astra. That was the young fox's mission as she scoured the alleyway, alone in the middle of the night. This action seemed to be something dangerous, or at least suspicious, but in reality Minor had had little to no trouble at all wandering around alone. Most people paid her no mind, a small creature like her wandering the streets at night. She was no more than another feral cat, just oddly shaped and a thousand times cuter. No one wanted to rob her, for she had no items. No one wanted to rape her, for she was not human. Not even the normal animals bothered to mess with her, for they sensed that she was different from them. So, Minor was relatively safe alone at night.
But also very lonely. Although Astra was a kind, loving foster parent, she required far too much sleep for Minor's tastes. In fact, all of the humans did. She did not quite understand it, but for some reason these humans needed more than double of her sleep time, and Minor thought she slept quite a lot. Perhaps it had to do with the way the sun rose and set in this world. It was far colder here and the sun was on and off in even sessions. It was very different from the demon world, where the sun was out most of the way and baked everything to smithereens. Or, at least, that was what Minor's pre-set memories had told her. She had never actually seen the demon world for herself.
What was she doing again? Ah, yes, finding something for Astra. Her human companion was off somewhere, sleeping because the sun was not on. It was little things like that that annoyed Minor. While her human was sleeping, she was left with nothing to do for a few hours. So instead of waiting around, she had decided to find something pretty for her friend. Something to surprise her and make her smile when she woke up. But that was still a few hours from now. Killing time was difficult.
With her nose pressed to the ground, she tried to sniff for the tangy smell of expensive metal, but instead something else greeted her senses. It was fresh, a sure sign that whatever she was smelling was still around. It smelled musty and corrupted, of darkness and chaos. It was something that seemed like it had once been a human scent, but had long ago been washed clean of any trace. Minor lowered her nose closer to the ground. This smell-- it was not just dark and evil, this smell smelled exactly like her.
A figure stood above her, its tall figure looming over the small animal. At first glance, she could not tell anything about it. A streetlight shone down on both of them, casting an impenetrable shadow across the figure's features. She could tell that the figure was a human-- a man, from the size. But that was impossible. That was where the smell was coming from. The smell was supposed to be of another demon, not of a human. Minor's six tails quivered uncertainly behind her. She had never met anyone from the demon world before. She knew certain types, but she also knew that her information was incomplete. There was only one way to know for sure.
"ສະບາຍດີ?" She asked.

Looking at his feet, Battler was baffled at what he saw. He had seen different types of demon foxes back in the Demon World, and the one he had his eyes on was something he would definitely recall. Why? Because it was one said to be extinct. That said, he had seen them before in his three years learning demonology (not by choice) and while he had briefly met a pure blood here and there, he had never seen any children. On top of that, there were far more mixed bloods than any other. The adults were powerful and tended to be more hermits while the younger ones were nomadic, learning about the world.
But for the one if front of him, he could tell by the energy radiating from it that it was a demon, and probably new born. But the fox demons from the demon world were clad in demon energy while the one if front of him was clad in both demon energy and mana. Could this be because it was born in Earthland? Or from the Earthland species? Maybe from birth they have both and then develop more demon energy later in life? He simply didn't know. One highlight of his meeting with fox demons was their... vigor and vitality. What could he say? As expected of demons originating from beast races.
Hearing a child-like voice, Battler took a while to process it. It wasn't the language he was accustomed to, at least not in Earthland. It was the language of Demons. Kneeling down, he held out his palm to the little fox. He had been speaking the demon language for two years, so he was fluent enough. "Hello. Didn't expect to meet another demon in this world. My name is Battler. What is yours, young one?" Battler's speech in Demon was quite formal and gave off a sense of nobility, though it had a bit of an icy and cold lick to it, probably because of the environment he learned it in. Learning the formal language was easier than trying to speak roughly because he was raised as an aristocratic child. Old habits, he guessed.

The figure responded. The figure responded. In Minor's native language. The fox was stunned. She stood there, gaping up at him with her hand outstretched to her until her neck began to get sore from staring upwards for so long. She lowered her head to his hand, moving her face so close to his skin that he could feel the ticklish twitch of her nose as she sniffed him again. His scent was undeniably familiar. In fact, it was nearly identical to her own.
A memory stirred in Minor's mind. It was something from long ago, long before she was born, long before she was even an egg. A memory of her mother's. A second man appeared in her vision, a ghostly outline of a corrupted human with rusty red hair and an appetite for blood. He appeared next to the silhouette in front of her, moving sideways until they both matched. This was man was her father. This man was her father. This man. Was her. Father.
Suddenly, Minor's entire body was quivering with excitement, her six curly tails quickly swishing back and forth behind her. She climbed onto the man's hand, being so small that she could fit all four paws on the entirety of it. She danced around, making her way up his arm with such bliss. When she got to his elbow, she could not bare to make it all the way to his shoulders, and instead she just jumped up to his face, wrapped her little paws around his head, and licked his cheeks all over.
"Daddy!" she cried. "Daddy I'm so glad to see you! Minor loves daddy very much. Yes, yes, yes. Minor is glad that daddy came to find her."

As the fox made its way onto his hand, Battler made sure he used enough strength to hold it, or her as the voice seemed to indicate. As she attempted to climb up his arm but unable to, he was taken aback as the furball jumped up and clung to his face, licking him. He had been around enough of the beast demons to know that this was a sign of affection and familiarity. With a surprised face, he listened to what she said as he tried to keep her under control and bring her into his arms like a cradle as he leaned himself against a wall in the alley, sitting down.
"So your name is Minor... Wait, Father? I'm your father? That is... actually possible..." While his speech showed his surprise, it tapered off into a nod of understanding as he recounted his time in the demon world. But it still left a lot of questions. Who was the mother? It wouldn't be hard to remember given the limited count of the fox species he had been with. And how did this child reach Earthland? Was the reason he was a father because of Imprinting or simply genetics? In any case, he had no choice but to accept it.
The beast race of demons were more likely to understand their own kin despite appearances, sort of like a part of their mind was encoded with this knowledge. It would explain why some fox races were extremely intelligent and sly beings. Battler couldn't help but find himself feeling a bit giddy at the fact that he was a father, and worried at the same time. Despite how he acts, he was quite the overprotective family member.
"Minor, calm down please. My name is Battler. As you say, I am quite possibly your father. Quite frankly, I am at a loss as to what to do. Are you being looked after? Or are you all alone?"

This time, Minor was not surprised when the man pulled her off his face. Her foster mother had done the same, when she had done it to her, so it was something to be expected, now. For some reason these human creatures did not like her shows of affection, but that did not bother the small fox, even in the slightest. She was just happy, pure and blissful to be with her loved ones. Minor was not apologetic as Battler moved her into his arms.
“Yes! I am Minor!” The small fox confirmed. She laid upside down in Battler’s arms, with her belly up and her paws in the air. “And you are Daddy!” She said excitedly, pawing playfully up in the air at Battler’s chin. Underneath her, her tails created a soft bed for her back and her fluffy fur filled Battler’s hands. She could not help but wiggle around. This was so exciting!
Battler told her to calm down. Minor suddenly ceased all movement and lay rigid in his grip. She was not about to disappoint her newly found father, especially since she knew she needed to make a good first impression. Staying still was her mission, and Minor had to execute it flawlessly.
"Minor-is-being-cared-for-by-human." She spoke in a fake mechanical voice. "Minor-loves-her. Beep-boop!"

Battler was overwhelmed. He truly was a father in some semblance of the definition. Seeing the cute little thing in his arms, he couldn't help but pet her, stroke her head, scratch her belly and whatever else. When she went stiff in response to his words, causing him to tilt his head, the monotonous voice he heard following this was enough to bring a normal smile to his face as he gave out a light chuckle. It had been a long time since he had a pet which he could act purely himself around like when he was a kid. Poking Minor's head with a finger, Battler spoke in a light tone with his polite speech.
"So, you have found someone to look after you. That is good. You must be happy with her."
Saying this, Battler realized something. Someone was already looking after his daughter, and he didn't know who they were. Given a beast race's instincts, they must be a good person but he was still worried. For all he knew, they could have tried to cook and eat her, maybe even skin her for her pelt. Shaking the thoughts from his head, he began scratching Minor's belly again while bringing her closer to rub his cheek against her face. It truly did feel fluffy like a pet. Something that he couldn't exactly do with Sakura, especially since she only had the ears.
"Daughter of mine, can you tell me everything you know about this human looking after you? Her gender, how she acts, what she does, what she has done with you, anything and everything please."

Minor wiggled her legs around with the joints locked, still pretending to be a robot. A weird grin appeared on her face, partly because she was not human and partly because her whole body was tense. Her tail still swished -or really, attempted to swish, because they were trapped by Battler's hand- and she layer there without blinking. But her whole façade was broken as soon as Battler opened his mouth again, and soon again she was a squirming mess of fox and fur.
"Yes Minor loves her human lots! Her chest was really squishy. I think that meant that she was female, but I couldn't understand anything she said, and she couldn't understand me, either." The fox turned around so that she was on her belly, and then stood with her back feet on his hands and her front paws on his chest so that she could look up at him. When he lowered his head, she responded by licking underneath his chin, something that would have felt rather ticklish. "When I was born, my human was right there in front of me. It was like she knew I was about to hatch! She had already put me in a bot of boiling water, and she had all these tasty foods around for me to eat, like minced vegetables and mushrooms and salt! But the best was the beef jerky. That was the best."
Having said that, Minor's mouth began to water. "Mmm, beef jerky."

From the information he was taking in, Battler could pretty much make out what had happened. First, the human was a female with big breasts. Nothing odd about that, but there were no other details given about her. As interesting as it sounds to go around looking at every girl's chest, asking if they were the one looking after the fox in his arms, he would just have to wait until a later time to know. As for Minor's birth, apparently she believed it to be a bath and had food for her, where it sounded more like she was in the middle of being cooked. Why? A large portion of demons either just 'appear' in the world with a collection of demonic energy, or formed from eggs birthed by the parent/s. So the woman was cooking what was probably a stew, when the egg she was going to use cracked open to reveal a fox.
Battler couldn't help but reveal a rather wry smile as he shouted in his head. Just how innocent can this daughter of mine be to not realize she was being cooked! She's innocent and blockheaded! Too much so! This definitely came from her mother's side! As he thought that, he did recall a rather ditzy fox woman he met. Their night activities came about after a confusing conversation and game. That said, he never took advantage of her. Heck, he was the one pinned to the ground by her tails the the frail demi-human he was at the time. Clearing his throat after Minor spoke, Battler thought of what to say next.
"I-It sounds like you had a great awakening. Tell me, has she been treating you well, Minor? I would not mind meeting her at some point. You will have to introduce your father to her at some point anyway. Is that not true, daughter of mine?"

"Yay! Yay!" The small fox twirled around and around on top of Battler's hands, almost like a dog chasing its tail. But instead of only having one tail, Minor's six tails bobbed up and down behind her as she circled. Their soft fur bumped against everything, probably getting all in Battler's face and mouth by now. But she was so happy. She could hardly contain herself.
"I'm going to exploooode!" Minor said, giggling. With all that pent up happiness, it really did feel like she was going to explode. She quieted down a little bit so she could talk. "Minor's human is super nice! She pets me and feeds me an she's so warm!" She jumped up onto Battler's shoulders and wrapped herself around his neck like a scarf. "I want daddy to meat Minor's human!" She wiggled around. "She's super close. We were staying at somewhere called a brothel!"
She spoke as if nothing was wrong. Of course, the two had not actually stayed at a brothel, but when Minor had asked about all the new buildings she was seeing, Astra had answered truthfully about all of them. The young fox has just picked up the word, but somehow its meaning had gotten lost in her memory. She was confused, but there was no way Battler could have guessed it from the angelic look on her face.
"So! Let's go meet my human!" She urged him.

Battler felt a slightly tickling feeling from his mental state rather than his body where the tails were brushing against him because of his reduced sense of touch. Better to keep his guard up in any situation in the event someone attacks him, that way he doesn't feel as much pain. Still, he watched his daughter with a half smile on his face, one that looked more fatherly than evil compared to previously. As the fox demon jumped onto his shoulder and then became a scarf, he had a bit of mixed feelings about it, but it was warm and comfortable. Though others might think he had made his prey into a scarf pelt. Oh well, no need to care what others think.
Hearing what Minor said about meeting that human, followed by the place they were staying, his eyebrows twitched. Oi oi, that human girl is selling her body? I shouldn't judge without seeing for myself, but this is my daughter speaking. She has no reason to lie. That said, she's still learning about the world. I'll decide after seeing her. Yes, I have to confirm this for myself... Thinking as such, Battler nodded his head to Minor. "Yes, let us go and meet your human."
