Onibas was lost in utter chaos. Left and right people were dying of the disease or slipping off into madness it created. Panic and disorder marked the city, which had already fallen to ruin in certain areas, and it was a very loud place irregardless of the time of night or day.
Riley was tired, even though it was only about midday. She hadn't managed much sleep since this whole disease business had started and she suspected that she would lose more still before it had ended. Presently, she was lurking the streets near the outskirts of Onibas, where her old guild used to be. Her plans to create the building anew had been put on hold because of the disease, and she found herself instead dealing with the numerous corpses that littered the area - bodies of those diseased individuals that had likely hoped to escape and find a cure for themselves.
She felt bad for disintegrating the bodies with no thought as to whom she was erasing from existence, but it seemed necessary. If diseased corpses were left to lay around, it was only a matter of time before more animals and people alike caught the disease from them. That wasn't a risk she was willing to take, and in light of recent events it was all she knew to do to prevent the disease from claiming more lives.
As she came upon a body in the road which had several flies buzzing around it, she raised her hand, a ball of yellow light forming in her palm. Once it was about the size of a human head it shot towards the body, which disappeared without a trace along with the bugs that had been feasting on it.
"At this rate, all the people of Onibas will be lost..." She ruefully murmured, shaking her head.

Breathing was constantly getting harder for the Valkyrie. It hadn't been long since she had stepped off of the harbor, with people questioning why she would ever come to a place that everyone was attempting to forsake the land. The girl hadn't needed to say anything. The saddened look in her eyes, and the bent head, as she simply stepped forwards into the country, had said more words than she could ever hope to speak. Continuing to step forwards, Astra was following a long and lonely path, as she was making her way to Onibas. Dressed in striped summers-dress, with a belt strapped tightly around her just above the waist, she seemed like someone who was there on vacation. Truth was, it was the only set of clothes that she had been able to afford after having woken up in a hospital wearing only a white gown for the sick. It was on this road, towards Onibas, that she encountered another lone individual. A mage, who seemed busy completely disintegrating the corpses of those, whom had lost their lives to this disease...
"I suppose that is how I will end up, too. No burial, no honor, simply a corpse rotting away somewhere... Please don't come near, I wouldn't want to infect such a noble maiden, doing what must be done." Astra said in a solemn tone, coughing lowly as she looked to Riley. Everything about this disease showed dark tidings. With how much death and decay there seemed to be in the south, Astra was quickly losing hope of enduring this disease. It was almost as if she had been marked for death, and could only sit down and wait for it to wash over her. "...I came here looking for officials or any other source of information in regards to this disease.. Would thou be able to point me in any direction?" The way in which Astra spoke made it clear that she wasn't from around here. Heck, with how she spoke, and with her accent, she sounded more like something straight out of forgotten times. There wasn't anything strong or outstanding about the girl. In fact, she seemed to be on the verge of giving up. A girl that had lost hope in surviving this onslaught.

Before the virus the city was always moving; cars, people, busses, trains. All those people making the organic part of the city, the part that determined the character and the structures. Those people dreamed of stadiums and theaters, they built ice-rinks and laid out parks with soccer pitches. They built churches, mosques and temples. There were hospitals, libraries, police stations, courts and jails. They made the roads wide and the tower blocks tall. Most of those plans haven't came through yet, but they were supposedly on their way.
I just caught up to Riley and found her where we just met. Last time we were here I was being chased down, and things just got worse from there. Riley seems to be getting rid of the bodies. I hate it, but I can't disagree with her right now. You don't know who has the virus without checking. If you check them, you can catch it just by touching it. “You know Riley; I can restore the guild to its former form.” An odd-looking woman shows up and she appears to be sick. She's caught the virus and looking for help. From the way she looks and sound makes it obvious she's not from around here. I keep my distance from her in fear of catching it. “I don't mean to sound rude, but please keep your distance. So far, there's no cure in this town, but I have no problem in providing help in some other form.”

Sensing someone approach, Riley rose her gaze to a lone woman that was staggering towards her, seeming defeated. She opened her mouth to say something but was quickly distracted as someone spoke up from behind her.
Turning towards a familiar voice as it announced that it could restore her guild to glory using magic, she arched a brow. Looking to Aether, she exhaled softly, then shook her head before allowing herself to watch the approaching woman as she spoke to him. "I appreciate the gesture but I'd rather rebuild it. Make it better. Safer, this time." She answered, giving her head a soft bow in his direction. If she happened to disappear again, she didn't want the guild to be at risk - no, she would make a fortress capable of defending her charges irregardless of her present status.
The woman addressed them, freely admitting her infection, which was not what she had come to expect from people at all. Her accent and manner of speaking suggested she wasn't from anywhere Riley had ever visited, so from her perspective it seemed as though some poor tourist had taken ill because of the magical disease, likely having been stranded in a strange land because of it, the poor thing.
"I'm afraid we don't have much to offer in the way of answers, friend." She called back, taking the woman's advice and remaining at a distance. "That's why I'm doing the only thing I can think to do while I come up with something better." She sighed a bit, bringing her hands to her hips and casting an absent glance to the wary Aether who had taken to following her like a lost pup - which she supposed wasn't an entirely incorrect assessment.
Turning back to Astra, she easily noticed that her demeanor screamed of hopelessness and defeat, which made Riley bite softly at her bottom lip. There wasn't much she could do for the sick woman, but she wanted to help ease her, even if she was diseased and standing at death's door.
With a slight wave of her hand that would probably go unnoticed, she reduced the pull of gravity on the woman's body, hoping that this would help her to breathe and move a little easier.

There was another voice, which made Astra spin around shortly, alarmed. Though, when the other was addressing the first woman, she merely sighed. The sentence that was dedicated towards her, was one that asked her to simply stay away. Or rather, avoid getting too close. Dropping her head a few more centimeters as a result, Astra merely nodded silently, before replying to Aether in a squeaking and subtle tone. "My apologies good sir. *cough*.. I shall be leaving immediately. I do not intend to cause my curse to befall any other, and if there is no information here that can help me, I don't know what thou could support me with. For all I know, I could be dead soon. I wish to at least experience the city before I die. If you'll both excuse me." Astra barely noticed the change of gravity. While she seemed extremely worn down, it was more of a mental state than it was an actual physical one. The disease was still only transitioning between the first and second stage. So for now, it was mostly annoyances. Even though she was in such a roughed up state, the girl was extremely polite and nice to others. It really did seem she had been unfortunate... Perking up a little as she remembered something, she turned to the two others again.
"I bid thee both farewell. If thou search for a place to stay with uninfected, I managed to protect Harujion to the east. There thou could find peace and shelter." Smiling for a short moment, the gesture soon withered away from her face, as she turned around to continue walking. Pulling the cloak back over her head, she must've seen completely out of place. A desert cloak, wrapped over a summers dress. Stepping ahead, the girl was headed for the city. Hopefully there she could find something that would be of use to her. Maybe...

I scratch my head a little as I feel a bit guilty. I just prefer she keeps her distance because right now there's no cure or anything. So I'm playing safe and done nothing wrong, but why I do feel so guilty? Unless I think of something and stop her somehow. I know I won't live with myself, unless I help this girl. It must be a bad habit of mine in helping others and unable to turn them away. "Please wait! Why don't you come with us for a bit? We were going to find supplies and find shelter for people who are infected. So, maybe it be better for you to come with us?”
I'm still not sure what is this girl name exactly, but perhaps I should break the ice on introductions. “My name is Aether Hikari. I actually live in the town overn next door, but it's no better than here.” The people over there are much more friendly. However, this virus has been changing people and making them act like fools. I don't want to Kunugi behave like that, so I haven't returned since the outbreak.
I move over to Riley and see that she's wearing the same attire as usual. I think about when we first met and had to shop for new clothes because Riley was a mess. Ever since then I've been around her a lot lately. I've got nothing to do and the virus limits me my movement. Additionally, I've developed a crush over Riley. I look blush slightly and scratch the top of my nose. “Is that fine with you, Riley? I don't want to make any decision that you'll be against.” Ok, this is my chance to compliment Riley. [Tell her-] Shut your mouth clown. Last time that didn't work out too well. “Oh, Riley uh, your hair looks nice today.” OK, not much of a compliment, but it's something? Whatever, I feel like there's a prodigious courage pushing inside me. It's small and nothing big, but I am proud of myself!

As quickly as she had arrived, the woman turned to leave again after bidding them farewell. Riley frowned softly but didn't get a chance to protest as Aether spoke up, offering the woman the chance to tag along with them for a while. He went on to introduce himself before eventually asking her if she agreed to the idea.
"It's fine by me." She agreed, crossing her arms over her stomach. She was about to introduce herself when Aether paid he a somewhat random complement that made her arch a brow. "Um... Thanks." She managed to murmur, though she had a hard time believing that her hair looked presentable given the situation that they were in.
Still, there were bigger matters at hand, and she soon returned her attention to the other woman once more. "My name is Riley Aquila." It felt weird not introducing herself by her title as guild master, so she added something else this time, instead. "Saint Wizard." The words felt strange on her tongue, but she let it slide for the time being.

Looking over her shoulder when Aether started speaking, Astra had stopped for a moment, turning around to allow the two of them to introduce themselves. For a moment there, Astra may have thought of allowing them to take her around the place. Though, when Aether paid Riley a compliment and blushed, Astra simply turned her head again. These two clearly knew each other, that much was certain, and it seemed they had a little bit of feelings invested into one-another too. "My name is Astra Gyllenörn, chosen Valkyrie.. Or at least I used to be. I am not exactly certain how I ended up down here.. As much as I appreciate the offer, I've still got hopes of surviving. Rumors have it that Shirotsume have found a way to cure the disease, but they're not allowing anyone in, without having them pay a toll fee. If nothing else, I hope I can gather enough funds to enter and have a look. I don't see.." Holding a hand against her mouth, the girl coughed deeply for a short moment, gesturing to the others that she was going to be fine. .. "...As I was saying, I don't see any other solution. If the place that has been overrun with the virus have no answers, then what hope is there for me besides this?.. Anyway, it was my pleasure meeting thou both, Aether and Riley. An honor to meet a Saint." Astra then bowed her head for them graciously, before continuing to walk forwards. It was clear that she didn't feel that she had much time to work with. As such, she would move forwards as quickly as she could.

“It's possible there's no cure at all. I'm sure there're people all over the world that are trying to find the cure. Judging from the looks of you, you've must have not had a chance to stop and relax for a long time.” It may not be a good idea to relax here, but when you're infected then in some ways, you have more room to relax. We have to be concerned about everything, but once you're already caught it then it doesn't matter as much. I kick a rubble near me. The rubble is a part of a former building that was burnt down recently. On the sharp edge are black burn marks and part of a building that was once standing. Honestly, I could restore the area right this minute, but what would be the purpose? A mob would come and knock it down. Unless people are around to watch it constantly, subsequently it's pointless. “However, if you're committed to leave, then I won't stop you.” In my chest, I feel something becoming warm. Some time ago, my family had sent this odd necklace to me and said to keep a hold of it. I've had it with me for a while, but never take the trouble to show it off. The necklace has a green pendant attach to it. It's radiating heat to the point it beginning to burn against my skin. I reach into my shirt and pull out the pendant. It's still drawing heat from it and magic runes are showing up. “Never did this before, what is happening?” ooc: merc

"Shirotsume, hm?" Riley echoed, raising a hand to stroke thoughtfully at her chin. She had the means to get their quickly, the money to pay the toll and the power to severely fuck people up if it was a lie. After entertaining the thought for a few long moments, she was drawn back to reality as the woman, Astra, coughed. Unlike many others, she had not lost herself to the madness, so it was much easier to sympathize with her.
"Well, be safe, Miss Astra. I wish you luck." Riley waved softly, slightly sad to see the woman heading off on her own, while also feeling a tad helpless. She was staring after the woman when she heard Aether rummaging about beside her, causing her to look to him as he drew out a necklace from beneath his clothing.
Approaching him to get a better look at the necklace, she furrowed her brow slightly. "Hmn, I don't know for sure." Reaching out, she lightly touched the pendant with her fingers, feeling the heat even before her bare skin made contact with the stone. "Was their some sort of ward on it, maybe? It's definitely magical in some sense of the word... Seems to be having a reaction to something, too..." She trailed off. Why else would the thing suddenly freak out. What had happened to set if off, though? They were just holding a conversation. Had Aether been doing something unusual (well, unusual by his standards)?
"Where did you get it, Aether?" Maybe knowing that would help offer an explanation to their questions?

The first thing that revealed something was completely wrong, was how Astra simply stopped in place. It seemed that the girl was completely unable to move forwards, as her every attempt at stepping seemed only to cause her to twitch and quiver. Then they appeared on her skin, beginning from her fingertips. The same runes as were apparent on the necklace, spreading across her quicker than the plague had infected her. The girls arms were being forced to her backside, gathering up as if being chained together. Then the girls knees gave in, so that she ended up kneeling, looking upwards to the sky, seemingly chained by these magical runes. From there, it was a struggle. Astra had tears streaming down her cheeks in pain, as she was attempting to bite her own lips shut. All in vain. The moment that the girls lips parted, a string of the warmest, most radiant light, was being threaded out from within her, wrapping itself around the amulet as if it was a spool to her thread. In addition to feeling as if it was burning, the amulet would also be giving off a soothing, comfortable sense. If they were able to sense magical power, they would clearly experience how her's was vanishing rapidly. The final thread of her warm, embracing light left her lips, and she could be seen desperately stretching her hand out as if to reach it and hold onto it, but it evaded her fingers. This was the exact remnants of the ritual that had summoned her into this world. The ritual that had been steadily weakening her ever since she had arrived here in Fiore, all those centuries ago. Now it was complete. There was nothing more that the girl could give. The very essence of everything that she was had been stolen from her.
The girls skin quickly changed color. From a living, bright, it turned pale blue. Blood was dripping from her nose, as she was writhing in pain. The girl was coming apart from the inside, slowly being destroyed because everything she was had been stolen from here. There was no light, no brightness, no warmth. Panting, gasping, she was trying to breathe, trying desperately to hold onto life. Was the girl scared of dying? Probably. Giving up on reaching for the light that was stolen from her, she simply collapsed onto the ground. Grasping for anything that could replace the light within her, grasping for anything that would give her a chance to survive, there was something out there answering her call...

Riley has gotten closer towards me to check out the pendant. I'm a bit blushing over it, and I try not to stare. "I'm not sure; it was given to me recently by my parents," I informed her as I look over to Astra, she's going through something, and she appears to be going through immense pain. I take a closer look at Astra and notice magic rune marking on her. They're the same markings that are on my pendant. The pendant becomes scorching hot! As the pendant reaches it peek of heat, it shatters. I'm completely confused about all this. There's no more heat from the necklace and see that Astra's pain seems to be complete intense. I'm standing here confuse and not sure what to the hell is going on. "Can someone explain to me what the hell is going?" I don't even know why they sent me this pendant and it's the first time I've met this girl, but then this happens? Did my own family send me this for this to happen, or do they don't even know it? I throw what is left of the pendant and rush over to Astra. However, I keep my distance relative safe. It's really hard to do something in this situation. I cannot touch her in fear of the virus nor can I get to close in case something happens. "Damn, what do I even do here?!" I clutch my own fist hard as I can. Blood begins to pour from my closed fist and drips onto the pavement. "Damn it, I can't even help anyone, again!" Whatever is happening to her is beyond my understanding. I feel nauseated and disoriented. I rush into my pocket and grab my pill bottle. I quickly swallow a few pills. "Damn it! What do I even do here?!"

The pendant that she had been observing soon shattered, leaving Riley all the more confused as she tried to piece together what exactly was going on. However, the young woman didn't get much of a chance to even begin to think about such things as Astra collapsed after some sort of magical ritual and Aether promptly began to freak out - the latter of which she had sort of gotten used to, all things considered.
Approaching with a cautious curiosity, Riley hovered nearby Aether, a hand lightly caressing the side of her own face. Did the necklace had some sort of binding spell waiting to activate? Knowing Aether's... problem, it was perhaps a possibility, but to put it blatantly, she had just seen some weird shit and she wasn't yet sure what to make of it.
There was one thing she was sure of, and she soon turned to the panicked man, her tone even. "Aether, calm yourself." It was as much a command as it was a warning. She had neither the time or desire to deal with... that other guy, who she was pretty sure was the one that was a pervert.
Pushing such thoughts from her head, Riley outstretched a hand, resting it on Aether's shoulder in some hope that the physical contact would draw him out of his panic. Looking to Astra at this point, she had no idea what she could do for the other female. Even if she was able to touch her without getting the disease, Riley was no healer. Unless she wanted to float like a balloon or be popped like one, there wasn't a whole lot she could do for her.

The Valkyrie then slowly started fading, withering, like an ancient and fragile flower in a torrent of wind. Every gust was picking away at yet another leaf, until nothing would remain. The girl started to appear slightly transparent, as they could actively see the ground below her through her. The best way to describe it, was that Astra was simply ceasing to exist. Everything that had made up who she was, what she was, where she had come from and how she had gotten there, had been stolen from her. Every single strand of warmth and life had been leeched by parasites over the last five hundred years. Now, there was finally nothing left. The darkness and the cold scared her. It was frightening and horrifying for one who had always walked in the light. Yet, it was the only thing that she had. If the darkness and coldness of this hell was the only thing she could cling onto to survive, then that is exactly what she would. The fading girl slowly got onto her feet, staggering from side to side as she was regaining her balance. It started licking up her body like flames, the darkness. It was gathering around her, like a living creature, sensing how little strenght she had left. How little that she had to resist with. It was a gift from someone that had always played with closed cards amongst the gods. A gift from someone who had more interest in toying with the mortal world than most other deities.
Astra was eating the darkness, allowing it to pour into herself, allowing it to be the new source of her life and power. The fading immediately stopped, reversing, as Astra let out a content sound of pleasure. Strange how something so cold and sinister could end up feeling so amazing. A smirk on her lips, she looked over her shoulder to stare down Aether. "..One day I'll take back what you and your kind has stolen from me. For now, keep the present. I have better things to do than deal with insects." From there, Astra stepped forwards, away from the two others. What Aether had just unwittingly started, couldn't be stopped. The way she spoke had changed. The way she carried herself had changed. It must've been hard knowing what had happened, but answers would be given if thery could learn more of the shattered amulet. Of who Astra was.

I suddenly feel better, but I am not sure if it's a good thing. The voices are gone, and my head is clear, but I do not understand. It's as if shackles that were holding me down before have disappeared. My body suddenly feels light as a feather, but disoriented. Something has happened to Astra as everything about her is much different. From her tone of voice, her speech pattern, and the way she carries herself. I look back myself and notice something is odd. I don't even see or hear the clown. It's as if he's gone, but how can that be? “OK....Riley do you have any idea what is going on?” I like to stop Astra, but I already know that be pointless. I suddenly remember a lot about myself, and the things that I have done. I feel warm liquid coming out of my eyes. Silently, the pearl-shaped tears rolling down my cheeks. I quickly wipe the tears from my face. I grab onto my medication, and I feel there is no more point in having them. I take a deep breath and calm myself down and close my eyes. I let all the information and memories sink in. “Hmp, I understand now. My parents have done something unnecessary and created more burden for me.” I look over to Riley, and I bet she's only confused about everything. I've indirectly has caused her if everything I remember is correct. I have a lot of redemption, and I've cursed myself to do everything that I can to make up for it. I need to do something, for the moment and move forward from here. I have a lot to explain to Riley about this situation. “I like to explain, but I'm not sure of everything myself. I can explain a little bit though. We can save the explanation for later and go back to what we were doing, it's up to you.”
