The Valkyrie was exhausted after many days of travel. Ever since the cure had been announced and spread far and wide, the opportunities to travel and learn more of the world had been plenty. A crysis that seemed capable of ending the world as they knew it, had been swept off of the radar as quickly as it had arrived. There was a very particular reason why Astra had come here, though. It was here that the connection to her former world was the strongest. It was in this region, that she had been summoned all those years ago, and the ripple between the worlds had never completely closed. In the bowels of an ancient temple, she had performed just as ancient a ritual. A ritual to call back a book containing certain knowledge. Knowledge that would allow her to seek revenge on the masters that had abandonned her in this world. The masters that had forgotten she even existed. It was a tome, holding the knowledge of one of the Valkyrian murderers. A Valkyrie, that managed to overcome the powers of the gods, and slay one of them before losing her own life. It was a forbidden tome on how a single Valkyrie managed to gain the aptitude to slay a god. God slaying magic. After having left the temple that was the summoning grounds where she had first arrived into this world, she had continued down the road. Armored from top to toe, carrying the tome under her arm and the bladed staff over her back, she found a nice little place for a calm rest. It was by a small creek that ran through the landscape. Sitting under a pine-tree, she was casually eating an apple with her left hand, while holding onto the tome with her right, reading the ancient scriptures in a hope to gain a hint of how to get started.
The time of day was a little past afternoon, reaching towards evening. The sky was openly blue and encompassing, giving the whole area a nice temperate feeling. The calming sound of running water was making the setitng even more comfortable. Astra was slowly being swallowed up by her reading. Tarea, the Valkyrie, was one that had claimed the gods of their time were nothing more than selfish and detestable beings, caring only for their own well being. It was a sentiment that Astra had started to share. Hopefully, this tome that also functioned as Tarea's diary would hold the secrets that would allow Astra to take revenge. Casually taking another bite of her apple, this was shaping up to be a fantastic day indeed.

The bright afternoon sun shone down on the scenery, gradually making its descent into the west. Its light highlighted the brilliance of the water, casting translucent glare on the trees and the grass surrounding it. There was a soft trickle of water, and a bird chirped in the distance. Occasionally a small snap would indicate a deer or other mammal. All around was the crick crick of bugs and the flap of tiny wings. The smell of varied wildflowers greeted anyone who came near to this tranquil place, welcoming even the most abstract of outsiders.
In the center of this oasis, underneath the old pine tree, there laid a rather large brown egg. It sat inconspicuously, its color blending in with the tangled roots and reaching about a foot above the ground. There was a certain quality to it, a certain magical air; no animals dared to even come close to it. The egg almost felt foreboding, as if it held some sort of curse or dark energy. Around it, the grass was burnt, perhaps by an initial explosion when the egg arrived, but the egg itself felt cool to the touch. As with all animals, eggs need warmth- and this one needed it badly.

An egg. An enormous, delicious and ready-to-be-cooked egg. Right there in front of her, almost as if it had been waiting for her to arrive at the scene. Astra was staring at it in disbelief, her head tilted slightly to the side, as her jaw dropped and her mouth began to water. From there, the compendium was packed down into her backpack, as she retrieved a few other items to complete the cooking preparation. It was incredible how fortunate that she actually was today. A long travel, ending with the mother of all omelettes, and the day only continued to get better! Procuring a metal casket, she placed the egg into the casket and the casket above a collection of branches, that was spread just enough that the Pouring a little water from the creek into the casket, she used two pieces of flint to get the fire going. A survivalist, and knowledgeable on simple techniques to survive in the wild, Astra was absolutely capable of cooking an egg. Even if this egg was many sizes too large of a regular chicken egg. From there, she went to gather a couple of additional apples and cut into smaller pieces. Adding a little salt, the meal was going to be absolutely perfect.
After a good fifteen or so minutes of cooking the egg, Astra pulled it out of the casket. Nudging the thick shell of the egg with her weapon, so that the shell would crack, she attempted to break the egg open for what she expected to be an easy meal. What was awaiting her, probably wasn't what she was expecting.

Astra touched the shell, radiating warmth inside the egg, and something inside had sensed it. Something inside the egg shifted. The movement could have been mistaken for a shift in the yolk or a trick of the mind, or missed entirely by the beholder. The egg's color seemed brighter now, and the magic surrounding it picked up. But the changes were so slight that it did not even matter. Whatever it was, it stopped as soon as the egg was placed inside the cold interior of a backpack. The egg lay still in wait again.
Suddenly, the egg was cast into boiling hot water. Instead of cooking, the color of the egg flourished and wonderful designs became apparent on the egg's surface. Six swirls of light brown circled around the bottom of the egg, while the top remained a creamy dark color. The egg toppled back and forth this time, something that could not be ignored or unnoticed. Its movements almost demanded attention, and it was received when it was brought out of the water.
Crack! Crack! The shell of the egg split open with the force of Astra's weapon. But what was inside was not a nice, tasty egg, but a fluffy ball of fur. The creature uncurled itself, opened its eyes, and gazed upon the angel that stood before it. She leaped towards her chest in a giant hug, and opened her mouth in joyous triumph.
"ບ້ານມອມ!" She called out. "ຂ້າພະເຈົ້າຮັກທ່ານ!"

Bewildered, Astra stood there for a moment considering what was actually within the egg. It was a furry, fuzzy little thing, with a tail and pointy ears. It almost reminded Astra of a fox-like creature, but surely, foxes weren't born from eggs. Could this possibly be some kind of demonic creature or the like? Afterall, where Astra had found the egg, it seemed to have almost fallen from the sky like some strange meteor. Stretching an arm forwards to poke the little creature, which Astra figured was very likely still a baby, things quickly escalated from that point, when the beast slowly uncurled and opened its eyes. The silver-grey eyes were meeting the deep brown. Thats when the little creature sprung into action, leaping at Astra. Astra almost caught the little fox with her arms, dropping the remainder of the eggsheels. Instead, as Astra was positively terrified at the strange reaction, as it from her point of view seemed threathening, she tried to dodge backwards. Since Astra was almost falling backwards out of sheer surprise, the fox actually got a hold around her face, rather than her chest. This caused the Valkyrie to fall into the grass with a loud thud, as she was frantically trying to get a hold of the creature and pull it away from her face. Having grabbed the tiny fox by the scruff, and holding it up in front of herself, with her back still against the ground, Astra finally had the chance to inspect the being as it dangled above her in her outstretched arms.
It was warm to the touch, and rather fluffy in nature. The voice in which it had spoken, wasn't something that Astra had ever heard before, so she couldn't even conclude that it was a language. The being seemed to be kind and joyous towards her overall. Astra also noted that it hadn't attempted to bite or claw at her face when it had the chance, so hopefully that was a continous trend. The only thing Astra could think, was that the being was satisfied with being releasedd from its egg. Slowly sitting up, while still holding the being out in stretched arms, Astra tilted her head to the side. "Curious little bugger. How am I meant to eat you when you look at me with those eyes?" Groaning softly, she put down the fox onto the ground, carefully, before scratching her own head. "..Since you're so small, I cannot quite leave you on your own, can I?.. Do you even understand what I am saying?" Letting out a soft sigh, she really needed to get a move on, now that the dinner was no longer secure. Once again opening her backpack, she fished forwards some beef jerky, before carefully lifting the fox and placing it in her bag, after which she lifted the bag and placed it over her back. The backpack wasn't closed, meaning the fox could halfway sit on her shoulder, halfway in the bag. Holding up some jerky, she wondered if it was hungry... "...but if I am taking care of you, you'll need a name.. You're a small bugger, and you caused me an accident. I'm not very good with names, but I guess... I'll call you smallie." Astra said, slowly starting to wander forwards. Since her meal had been ruined, she needed to get to town and get some food.
"...On second thought, that sounds a lot like smelly.. Y'know, I'll just call you Minor instead. I hope thats fine with you."

The small fox clung to Astra's face with her two front paws wrapped around the angel's head. Her hind legs kicked in the air until she found a good spot on the woman's shoulders. Behind her, her six bushy tails fanned out, fluffing up now that they were not confined to the small space inside the egg. They wiggled back and forth in excitement as the fox gave a big lick to Astra's cheek, raising the loose skin above the woman's jaw and amusing herself as the pale face fell back into its original shape. This creature was fun, the fox decided, but this creature was most certainly not her mother.
The creature pulled the fox off her face and held her by the loose skin on the back of her neck. A surprised bark, much like that of a small dog, emitted from the fox's mouth. Her tiny paws swayed in the air and then kicked around like she was swimming as the creature eyed her. What did the Pale One want? The fox tried to push herself back forward, reaching out her tongue to lick Astra's cheek again. Instead, a noise came out of the creature's mouth, and she was placed on the ground. Dumbfounded, the only thing the fox could think to do was stand there with her tongue still hanging out. Didn't this creature know that she was trying to show her affection? The fox could not tell. Maybe this creature had never had affection shown towards her!
The fox rubbed face against the creature's legs as more noise came out of the creature's mouth. Although she could begin to make out the individual syllables, all the words meant nothing to her. The fox was more focused on showing this poor, deprived creature some affection. Back in the demon world, the fox knew, babies were born with a small amount of knowledge as well as key language phrases. So why did this creature not understand her? The fox only guessed that the creature had lived so long without affection, that it had simply forgot. She rubbed her face more forcefully against the creature's legs.
Suddenly, she was being lifted up again and placed into a soft bag. There were various other things in the bag, but their identity and purpose were all a mystery. The only thing that mattered was the piece of meat that the creature was carrying. The fox's mouth began to water, and she licked her lips in anticipation. Had all of her affection paid off? Was this creature generous? The fox sat up in the back, placing her front paws on the back of the creature's shoulder in anticipation. She stared at the piece of meat. The creature was moving it closer to her. It intended to give her food?! The fox's tiny front paws jumped up and down, and she grabbed the meat with her mouth, covering the creature's face in licks. More noise came out of the creature's mouth, but the fox did not care. This creature had given her food! She was so happy.
Once she was finished eating, she settled back into her bag and made herself comfortable. It was time for a nap. zzzz....
